The Cathedral School

Discover The Cathedral School for your children. Centrally located in Townsville Australia, the school campus is 24 acres of serene, peaceful gardens shaded by towering rain trees. At its heart lies a natural lagoon teeming with wildlife (a favourite spot for our school fishing club).

The school offers a co-educational program from Prep to Year 12 that is unsurpassed by the better known metropolitan schools. Students achieve top academic outcomes and enjoy modern learning and living facilities. Extensive on-campus sporting and social development programs provide students with an environment in which to grow and flourish.

Study Abroad Program

Study Abroad is open to international students in Years 7 to Year 11. The program offers students school enrolment and accommodation in the school’s on campus boarding dormitory.

Students participate in mainstream classes and are included in the complete educational program.

Our Study Abroad Program provides a cultural and language immersion experience. Students are expected to give their best efforts towards the academic program and uphold the rules and expectations placed upon all students enrolled at The Cathedral School. Students are supported to realise their academic potential and may elect to participate in formal assessment.

Students enrolled for one semester or one year will receive a School Report, while students who attend for a term will receive a Certificate of Participation at the conclusion of the program.

Welcome to The Cathedral School.

The Cathedral School offers modern and homely boarding facilities with separate dormitories for girls and boys.

In the girls dormitory, students are accommodated across three boarding “wings” adjoining a beautiful and secured courtyard garden. Girls in Years 7 to Year 10 stay in well appointed quad or dual share rooms, while seniors stay in single rooms equipped with a study desk, wardrobe and vanity.

Boys are accommodated in a dormitory of their own located away from the girls, with an adjacent basketball hoop and central games room including a dartboard, pool table and table tennis. Boys in Years 7 to Year 9 share in a quad configuration that is well designed to provide a balance of privacy and visibility. From Year 10, boys enjoy their own private bedrooms including a large study desk and grooming sink.

Townsville –A taste of the tropics

Townsville is the perfect environment for educating healthy and happy children. From the Great Barrier Reef and its tropical islands to the lush rainforests and World Heritage listed national parks, this peaceful coastal town is equally well described as a coastal village and modern metropolis.

Townsville weather is warm all year round.

Crystal blue skies and sunny days with daily temperatures in the cooler months ranging from 14°C to 24°C, and in the warmer months temperatures range between 25°C to 32°C.

Townsville Time Zone

Townsville is 9 hours ahead of Central European Time, making keeping in touch easy. Students phone home after school and share news of their day when family and friends are just starting theirs. Equally, Townsville is only an hour or so ahead of Asia, allowing students to connect with families back home before bed.

Getting to Townsville

Connect to the Townsville Airport via Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Cairns.

Spot Koalas on Magnetic Island’s Forts Walk.
Relax at The Strand Waterpark.
