A Sanctuary of Joy: A COZY WELCOME
For The Fall Season
Nestled in Visalia, California, is a home that tells a love story; a tale of patience, growth, and the beauty of making a space your own. Once a dated property with “purple walls, pebble tec counters—yes, counters,” the home of BryAnn and Parker Buhl, their son Cav, and three playful doodles is now a sanctuary of warmth, comfort, and deep personal meaning.
“This wasn’t an instant transformation,” BryAnn shares. “At first, we rushed through renovations just to move in faster, but as time went on we realized it was okay to let the house grow with us. Every year, we’ve added little layers of ourselves into it.” With decor, paint, photos, and textiles, the couple has filled the home with character and memories. Inspired by the designs of Molly Kidd, their goal was to create a home with a story—and they’ve succeeded.
Designed for Living
When it’s time to unwind, the couple retreats to their master suite, their “favorite getaway.” Entertaining, on the other hand, often happens outdoors or around the island in the kitchen. “We designed it to be flexible—it can be quiet and cozy, or full of people and laughter,” BryAnn says.
When asked to describe their home’s personality, she doesn’t hesitate: “Warm, comforting, and private.” For her, the most personal touches are “the color choices for sure, but also the fun décor pieces and light fixtures that really feel like us.”
For their son Cav's nursery, BryAnn wanted a unique space with a "beach vibe, but not what you’d normally find on Pinterest." She collaborated with Kelsey Ormonde at Sanctuaire Interiors on a beautiful wall mural, a fun project that set the tone for the room. “Parker and his dad handmade the window box/seat and the oversized floating shelves! That’s by far my favorite part of the nursery,” she shares. “They give so much character and warmth, while still being functional!”
The Feeling of Fall
As the seasons shift, the Buhls welcome autumn in a subtle way. “I don’t do a ton of seasonal decorating—it’s more about the feeling,” BryAnn explains. “I love switching up textiles to give more coziness and warmth. Adding a few warm tones and candles makes the whole house feel like fall without being over the top.”
For the Buhls, the best part of the season is simple. “Our favorite part of fall is cooler weather to enjoy relaxing outside or cozying up for a date night at home,” BryAnn says. When it comes to a date night in, the couple has their go-to movies. “I’m a sucker for Hocus Pocus, but I also love Practical Magic and anything by Nancy Meyers!”
That intentional focus on ambiance is what defines their home. “At the end of the day, I just want it to feel like us,” she says. “If people walk in and instantly feel happy and comfortable, then we’ve done it right.”
Ultimately, the Buhls have built a home guided by love, community, and authenticity. Every corner is a reflection of their family’s story, a place where joy and comfort take center stage.
