EDITOR’S
NOTE THE ART OF LIVING WELL
As autumn unfolds, the world seems to exhale—a season of subtle luxury and quiet transformation. The golden light softens the skyline, the pace slows just enough to notice the craftsmanship in life’s finer details, and the invitation to wander calls once again.
In this Fall Issue, we celebrate the art of living well—where luxury is not defined by excess, but by experience, intention, and connection. From the refined design philosophy of Tommy Tardie, whose leadership and vision grace our cover, to the modern craftsmanship of GS Furniture Company, Savoir, and Michael Noah Winch Design, we explore how beauty is built—piece by piece, space by space, story by story.
Our travel features transport readers to some of the world’s most captivating destinations. In Madrid, the BLESS Hotel and Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá capture both history and hedonism, offering sanctuaries for the senses in the heart of Spain’s capital. Across the Atlantic, Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale and Jayne’s Cottages in Muskoka redefine coastal and lakeside luxury, proving that serenity can be found wherever water meets wonder. And in Paris, Villa Marquis reminds us that elegance is timeless—an ode to legacy reimagined for the modern traveler.
We also turn our gaze toward New York’s ever-evolving skyline, where Time Out Market’s rooftop revival brings new life to city dining, and where Bedside Reading redefines what it means to unwind, connecting stories, authors, and hotels in a symphony of hospitality and imagination.
As the season changes, may this issue remind you that true luxury lies in living fully—in savoring art, travel, craftsmanship, and the moments that inspire gratitude. Whether you’re curating your next journey, designing a space that reflects your soul, or simply pausing to breathe in the crisp autumn air, may you find beauty in the balance.
Warmly,

HIDDEN BEAUTY, HAND REVEALED
GS Furniture Company’s Artful Reimagination of Heirloom Elegance
By Carece Slaughter
Founded by lifelong friends Gabriela and Suzanne, GS Furniture Company is redefining heirloom luxury with handcrafted wood and leather pieces that transform antique finds into timeless, personal treasures.
The Emilia
The Isabela

When Friendship Becomes Legacy
More than two decades ago, Gabriela and Suzanne first crossed paths as young mothers watching their daughters twirl through preschool ballet. What began as a gentle bond in those early days soon evolved into a friendship rooted in grace, grit, and shared creative vision. Over the years, as they raised families and pursued individual careers, their connection deepened, fueled by a mutual appreciation for timeless design, heritage craftsmanship, and soulful storytelling. Eventually, the dream that had quietly taken shape between school drop-offs and late-night conversations found its form.
GS Furniture Company was born—a boutique atelier where craftsmanship meets character, and every piece is as personal as the friendship behind it. Like the heirloom vanities, ta-

bles and storied desks they lovingly restore, the beauty of their journey reveals itself with time, intention, and an enduring sense of purpose.
A Signature Style, One Tack at a Time
"We only choose pieces we really love," Gabriela explains. "We preserve their soul and then add a touch of ourselves."
That blend of reverence and reinvention is what defines GS Furniture Company. Sourcing antique or vintage pieces with strong bones and timeless lines, Gabriela and Suzanne invest over countless hours per piece to restore, reimagine, and refinish with bold leathers, artisanal hardware, and finishes that feel soulful, not showy. Suzanne says. "We’re creating furniture meant to last for generations."
We look for the hidden beauty—then we help it shine.
Gabriela

The Paul

Their materials are just as considered. Cowhide, lamb, and goat leathers from Mexico, Brazil, and Italy are chosen not for trends, but for texture, durability, and story. Every nail is hammered by hand. Every pattern is customcut. Every finish is tested, redone, and refined, to accentuate the soulful character that only handcrafted work can achieve.
The Art of Naming: Where Heritage Meets Heart
At GS Furniture Company, every piece tells a story—and every name carries meaning. These are not sterile SKUs or catalogue codes; they are personal tributes, etched in wood, leather, and legacy.
"We name our furniture the way you’d name a child," Suzanne explains. “It has to grow into itself first.” From children and lifelong friends to figures that inspire, the names behind each design reflect a deeper connection.
Take The Paul, for example, a striking piece crafted from rich teak wood, finished in English chestnut, and accented with dark brown leather and a bold deer-print cowhide. It embodies rugged charm and boundless energy, much like its namesake: a spirited soul with an adventurous edge and a wide circle of friends.
In contrast, The Brandon trunk exudes creative introspection. Also carved from teak and stained in warm chestnut with deep green undertones, it’s trimmed in brown and green cowhide, an homage to a different temperament. Brandon is a thinker, a storyteller, someone drawn to history and the art of imagining what could be.

Founders and lifelong friends Gabriela and Suzanne
The Brandon

Each name is an invitation, not just to own a piece of furniture, but to connect with the character it was inspired by.
Transforming the Pieces that Matter Most
Beyond their curated collections, GS Furniture Company has become known for its custom restoration work—especially pieces that carry emotional weight.
"We love when someone brings us an heirloom and asks us to bring out its hidden beauty," Gabriela says. The process is thoughtful and collaborative: clients share photos, stories, and style direction. Gabriela and Suzanne then create a vision board with leathers, stains, and finish concepts. Swatches are sent for approval. Sketches may evolve. But one thing never changes: the commitment to honoring both history and home.
Seasonal Collections, Timed with Intention
With a devotion to artistry over volume, GS Furniture Company unveils just two curated collections each year—Fall and Spring—allowing each piece the time and attention it deserves.
“We never wanted to chase production schedules or dilute the integrity of our work,” says Suzanne. “Our seasonal releases give us space to create thoughtfully—and to offer something truly distinctive.”
Between these debut moments, a more discreet rhythm unfolds: private commissions, bespoke transformations, and quietly offered previews for discerning designers and collectors. It’s a cadence that feels more atelier than showroom— more couture than commercial.
We name our furniture like we’d name a child. It has to grow into itself first.
Suzanne
What Luxury Really Means
For Gabriela and Suzanne, luxury isn’t about price tags or polish—it’s about intention.
"Luxury is a one-of-a-kind piece that carries memory, beauty, and soul," Gabriela says. "It’s not mass-produced. It’s made to last and made to be loved."
That, in essence, is the heart of GS Furniture Company: handcrafted legacy pieces that turn everyday interiors into personal sanctuaries.

THE ART OF REST
Inside Savoir's 120-Year Legacy of Luxury Sleep
By Carece Slaughter
Co-Owner Alistair Hughes Reflects on Heritage, Craftsmanship, and the Tranquil Power of Bespoke Bedmaking

For more than a century, Savoir has quietly redefined what it means to sleep luxuriously. Born from a vision to provide the world’s finest rest at London’s famed Savoy Hotel, the brand has evolved into an icon of craftsmanship and comfort. Today, each Savoir bed is still handmade by a single artisan—a process that takes up to 120 hours and results in a sleep experience unlike any other. In celebration of their 120th anniversary, Savoir has partnered with Winch Design to unveil "Tranquility," a bespoke bed inspired by 1930s ocean liners and crafted for modern sanctuaries on land and sea. We spoke with Alistair Hughes, Co-Owner and Company Director, to explore the enduring philosophy behind the brand, the nuances of collaboration, and the future of rest.
Savoir has been perfecting rest for 120 years. How did this journey begin, and how have you preserved its soul through the generations?
It started in 1905 at the Savoy Hotel, and I always say the clue is in the name. It was really about wanting to provide the most luxurious night's sleep to the most discerning people— those who had the wealth, the power, the insight to demand the best. And so the Savoy set about creating the most comfortable bed that could be made, and that became our No. 2 bed. And it's interesting that it still remains our best-seller even today. So for us, it's always been about how you preserve that by staying focused on doing one thing and doing it in-
credibly well, which is delivering a great night's sleep. Everything else evolves around that. Everything else—design, aesthetics, construction techniques, availability of materials—but that singular purpose has never changed.
Each Savoir bed can take up to 120 hours to build. In a world that favors automation, how do you maintain such craftsmanship?
We describe our workshop as a bedworks, not a factory, because everything's made on a bench. So we have bench-trained craftspeople who will work with the finest materials to build each mattress, topper, base, and headboard to order. It's all bespoke. There are a few machines—a CNC machine here, a gluing machine there—

but it's predominantly done by hand. It is timeconsuming, but we make sure we're efficient in everything else so the product can be made as efficiently as possible, but not at the expense of the handcraftsmanship.
Savoir has graced the bedrooms of legends— from Marilyn Monroe to Winston Churchill. Can you share a favorite behind-the-scenes story that reflects the brand’s unique relationship with its patrons?
There are wonderful stories. We always talk about Liza Minnelli, who refused to check out of the Savoy until she had the mattress removed and shipped home. That was her way of saying she wasn't leaving without it. We've had couples who spent their wedding night at the Savoy and then returned 30 years later to buy a Savoir bed to mark their anniversary. There was a king who was so impressed after a night's sleep that he ordered 24 for his palace. These stories reflect how personal and emotional sleep

can be. It's not just a product—it's part of people's lives and memories.
Let’s talk about Tranquility, the collaboration with Winch Design. What made this the right moment for a creative partnership?
We've worked with Winch for many years, particularly in the superyacht world, where sleep can be compromised because of the motion of the sea and the limitations of what you can bring onboard. We wanted to do something that was specifically for that market, with the luxury and comfort of Savoir, but built with the constraints of that environment in mind. Michael Noah, their designer, has a wonderful sensibility. He came up with the idea of echoing the design of 1930s ocean liners—which were the epitome of elegance and glamour— and translating that into something that would work in both a yacht and a land-based home. It’s elegant, it's practical, it's serene.

Tranquility balances 1930s nostalgia with modern sophistication. How does this design reflect the future of Savoir?
It shows that we’re expanding what we do. We’re taking our expertise in sleep and combining it with design that works beyond just the bedroom in a townhouse or an apartment. We're looking at mobility, flexibility, and collaboration with designers who bring new ideas and visions. It's a way to stay current while staying true to our ethos. Tranquility brings that all together—a piece that works on land or sea, is made to order, and is rooted in quality.
You've spoken about how wellness extends beyond the individual. How is sustainability shaping your materials and mission?
We've always used natural materials—horsehair, cotton, wool, cashmere—because they breathe and last. But more and more, customers are asking where those materials come from,
and how they're processed. We work with suppliers who share our values. We don’t use foams or synthetics. Our toppers are biodegradable. Even the way we construct the bed—with less glue and more stitching—means it can be taken apart, refreshed, and used for decades. It's not about throwaway culture. And yes, I do have a personal rewilding project in Wales, which really reinforces my belief that luxury should coexist with stewardship of the earth.
Luxury means different things to different people. When you think about luxury that aligns with your deeper purpose, what comes to mind?
For me, luxury is about thoughtfulness and individuality. It’s about knowing that something was made for you, not for the masses. It has a soul because someone put their time and skill into making it. That’s the kind of luxury I believe in—something with meaning, longevity, and integrity.

TIMELESS DESIGN, MODERN VISION
Winch Design’s Art of Living Well
By Carece Slaughter
From ocean liners to private jets, Michael Noah shares the art, ethos, and evolution behind Winch Design's most meaningful collaborations—including their latest creation with Savoir, the Tranquility bed.

For over four decades, Winch Design has built a reputation for transforming the worlds of yachting, aviation, and residential design with bespoke, boundary-pushing creativity. From their London studio, the brand has shaped floating palaces, airborne sanctuaries, and timeless interiors. In our conversation with Michael Noah, Associate and Furniture Designer at Winch, we step into the heart of their design process, explore their sustainability values, and uncover the story behind Tranquility—a luxurious collaboration with Savoir that celebrates 1930s ocean liner elegance and the restorative power of rest.
Winch Design began as a boutique yacht design studio and has grown into one of the world’s most revered names in luxury design across land, sea, and sky. How do you personally connect with the studio's origin and design philosophy, and what sets it apart?
Winch Design has been going for about 40 years now. I joined about eight years ago, but in a funny way, I've always worked with them. When I worked for another company, I often collaborated with Winch.
What sets us apart is that we're really good listeners. We pay close attention to our clients’ briefs, ensuring what they want is what we deliver—and then we go beyond that. No detail is left to chance. We’re extremely fastidious and detail-oriented. My role tends to focus on the human scale—the finer details, almost like jewelry. I find big-picture thinking a bit overwhelming, so I anchor myself in those small, refined moments.
And we don’t have a house style, which is rare. We design based on what each client wants. One might want a beach house, another a chateau, another a New York loft—and we deliver bespoke experiences for all. It makes Winch feel like a magical place to work. We make dreams come true, and we get to collaborate with incredible artisans. It's an honor.
Let’s talk about the Savoir collaboration. The Tranquility bed was inspired by 1930s ocean liners. How did that specific era influence your design approach?

When we start any collaboration, we create a mood board. We pin up imagery and words to inspire us. One of the words we used was "embrace," and that became central to the concept—a bed that hugs you.
We looked at past boat and bed projects, traditional sleigh beds, and drew inspiration from the elegance of 1930s ocean liners. I thought, what if we modernized the sleigh bed concept? That was the seed. Then we layered in details and lines from the ocean liner era—the romance of transatlantic travel, ballrooms, sea air. It all came together.
Even the photo shoot was special. We ended up photographing the bed at Eltham Palace. Sarah, who was helping with the project, suggested it. I’ve always loved that building. Seeing the bed there, in that incredible room, was amazing.
Sustainability is increasingly essential in luxury design. How does Winch Design embrace it beyond the surface level?
We have a sustainability specialist on our team, someone who sources innovative materials— like timber turned into fabric. It’s not just about using recycled plastic; it’s about creating heirloom-quality pieces that last generations.
One of our projects involved an explorer yacht with a client who was deeply invested in sustainability. Everything was carefully sourced. No off-gassing materials. And we support causes like the Blue Marine Foundation. We’ve even built a bamboo bike and cycled from London to Monaco to raise awareness.
It’s a big topic, but we try to do our part— whether that’s through long-lasting design or giving back.
Winch Design’s portfolio spans from yachts and private jets to residential interiors. How do you maintain both function and luxury across such different environments?
It comes back to listening. We started with small yachts, and clients were so happy that they asked us to design their homes, and then their friends did too. That ripple effect grew our portfolio.
Despite different logistics and dimensions, the attention to detail and care we bring remains consistent. That’s how we maintain the feeling of luxury across any setting.
Your team recently moved into a new consolidated head office in Putney. Has that impacted your creative process?
Massively. Before, we were scattered across different spaces in Barnes. Now we’re under one roof. It fosters spontaneous collaboration— those "water cooler" moments where ideas are shared organically.
The materials library is now in one unified space, which is inspiring. Teams from aviation, architecture, interiors, and procurement all sit near each other. It’s a creative ecosystem.
You collaborate with iconic brands like Savoir and Silverlining. How do you ensure a harmonious fusion of ideas while staying true to the Winch ethos? We try to look at things through a different lens. With our partners, we aim to create something no one has done before. We work with people who share our commitment to excellence—whether it's in making handles, rugs, or beds.
The key is shared vision, mutual respect, and innovation.
What does luxury mean to you when aligned with deeper purpose?
For me, luxury is about the journey. Our work isn’t just about delivering a beautiful object; it’s about connecting the client to that object. They've met the designer, they've touched the samples, and followed the evolution. That makes the final product more than just a possession—it becomes part of their story. That, to me, is luxury.

TRANQUILITY BY DESIGN
Where Winch and Savoir
Redefine the Art of Rest
By Carece Slaughter
Born of British mastery and ocean liner nostalgia, the Tranquility bed unites two icons of bespoke craftsmanship in a visionary collaboration.

A Sanctuary Tailored to the Soul
At the confluence of legacy, artistry, and imagination, two British design houses—Savoir and Winch Design—have joined forces to craft something more than a bed. Tranquility, their latest collaboration, is a reverent nod to the golden age of transatlantic travel, interpreted for today’s most discerning dreamers.
This is not merely a place to sleep; it’s a fully immersive sleep experience—a sculptural sanctuary that invites stillness, evokes movement, and speaks the language of personal luxury.
For Michael Noah, Furniture Designer & Associate at Winch Design, the inspiration was both intuitive and historical. Drawing from the
Luxury isn’t about the object alone. It’s about the connection a person builds with that object.
Michael Noah

curvature of 1930s ocean liners, Noah modernized the sleigh bed archetype, building in lines that suggest both fluidity and structure, serenity and strength. “We spend one-third of our lives in bed,” he adds. “That makes it arguably the most important piece of furniture I’ve designed to date.”
Craftsmanship at Its Most Intimate Scale
Savoir, known globally for their handcrafted mattresses and heritage commitment to bedcraft, brings unmatched expertise to the collaboration. Founded in 1905 to furnish The Savoy Hotel with what was then the world’s finest bed, Savoir has preserved—and elevated—that promise for more than 120 years.
Each Tranquility bed is made to order by a single artisan in Savoir’s Welsh Bedworks, a process that spans over 120 hours of human craftsmanship. Upholstered in supple Foglizzo leather, trimmed in figured anegre wood, and stitched with saddler’s precision, the bed embodies tactile beauty.
The inner sanctum includes a bespoke Savoir mattress tailored to the Tranquility design, a Savoir No. 4 pocket-spring base, and a hair and wool topper finished in the brand’s signature white Trellis ticking.
Indeed, it’s not just about looks. It’s about legacy—passed from hand to hand, fiber to fiber, commission to craftsman—a personalized journey from vision to creation.
The spirit of this collaboration captures everything we stand for— craftsmanship, imagination, and timeless comfort.
Alistair Hughes
A Dialogue Between Disciplines
Though the brands have collaborated on custom commissions for years—especially aboard superyachts and in luxury residences—Tranquility marks the first time they’ve presented a bed as a co-branded creative product.
Winch Design doesn’t have a house style. That same openness guided the collaboration with Savoir, resulting in a silhouette that fits as gracefully into a modern penthouse as it does aboard a private vessel.
Even the photo shoot, staged at the Art Deco jewel of Eltham Palace, was a carefully chosen nod to the past. “It felt like the perfect setting—glamorous and quietly powerful,” says Noah.
Details That Whisper, Not Shout
Nothing in Tranquility shouts for attention— because it doesn’t need to. The reading lights, in golden bronze from Chelsom, are integrated rather than added. The custom nightstands, offered separately, are shaped in harmony with the bed’s curves, not in contrast.

Customization is central: clients can select leather finishes, trim materials, and dimensions. Prices begin at $68,605 for a US King, with coordinating nightstands at $21,885 each. The bed is available by commission in Savoir showrooms worldwide, including its flagship in Mayfair, London.
Sustainability as Heritage, Not Trend
Both brands subtly embed environmental responsibility into their practices—without sacrificing luxury.
From natural horsehair and wool to breathable cotton, the Tranquility bed eschews foams and synthetics in favor of enduring, natural materials. Even the joinery—favoring stitching over glue—hints at sustainability through design.
At a time when fast luxury has become a paradox, Tranquility reminds us of the opposite: thoughtful, slow-made luxury that’s meant to endure.
Rest as Ritual, Sleep as Statement
There’s something poetic about naming a bed Tranquility. In an age of noise—digital, visual, emotional—this is furniture as refuge. It offers a moment not just to lie down, but to return to oneself.
It also serves as a metaphor for the collaboration itself: the bed is quiet, but its impact is resonant. It is the union of craftsmanship and creativity, of utility and beauty. And it reflects what happens when two brands—one rooted in furniture design, the other in restorative sleep—meet not just in function, but in philosophy.
In Tranquility, that meaning is handcrafted into every stitch, every line, every dream.

SKYLINE SIPS & SUMMER SETS
Inside Time Out
Market New York’s Rooftop Revival
By Caroline Dalal
DUMBO’s elevated destination blends
gourmet dining, live music, and skyline views into one seamless cultural experience.

A Rooftop Renaissance in DUMBO
At Time Out Market New York, the phrase “top of the town” is more than a compliment— it’s a geographic fact. Perched atop the Empire Stores building in DUMBO, this dynamic fifth-floor venue is redefining what it means to dine and unwind in New York City. Equal parts culinary playground and cultural amphitheater, the rooftop terrace and adjoining indoor lounge offer an elevated experience—literally and otherwise—backed by a panoramic sweep of the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the steady pulse of curated live entertainment. But don’t let the relaxed ambiance fool you. This isn’t your average food hall with a view. It’s a finely tuned operation that blends gastronomic excellence, year-round mixology, and a meticulously curated music series—earning its place as both a neighborhood staple and a destination for the discerning.
A Curated Culinary Collective
Time Out Market New York brings together some of the city’s most respected chefs and fanfavorite vendors under one roof. The ground floor hosts a formidable lineup: Ess-a-Bagel, Clinton St. Bakery, Felice, and Jacob’s Pickles anchor the experience with New York icons, while newer additions such as Tanoreen and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s Mori Mori offer a global palate with local roots.
For those craving complexity without commitment, mobile ordering allows diners to sample a variety of offerings—no queuing required. Communal tables turn solo snacking into a shared ritual, and the rooftop bar ensures your beverage is as considered as your plate. It’s a format that encourages exploration, not just consumption.

Rooftop Design That Thinks Beyond the Plate
The fifth-floor terrace is, without question, a visual showstopper. Views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges feel cinematic, especially as the sun dips and the skyline begins to glow. But the space’s versatility is just as notable as its vantage point.
Inside, the lounge is framed by industrial arched windows, pouring light across the room and setting the stage—literally—for DJs and live musicians. Designed to host up to 350 standing guests, the venue is as fitting for a brand activation as it is for a private celebration. A full buyout grants access to the entire upper level: terrace, indoor lounge, rooftop bar, and four of the market’s top-tier food vendors. The indoor-outdoor flow is seamless, the energy always curated, never chaotic.
The Soundtrack of Summer
Of course, no modern rooftop experience is complete without a soundtrack. Enter “Summer Sounds on the Rooftop,” the venue’s robust programming series that blends music, community, and atmosphere into a weekly rhythm.

Tuesday Night Jazz brings swing back to the city with performances curated by Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists. Every other Tuesday from 7–10 p.m., guests sip wine under the stars to the smooth tones of a bygone era—no cover charge, no velvet rope.
Soul Records Laboratory turns Wednesday nights into an analog affair. From 8 p.m. to midnight, DJs spin vinyl-only sets in partnership with Grey Goose, pairing sonic texture with specialty cocktails crafted for the evening.
Salsa Thursdays offer a kinetic alternative to the midweek lull. Led by instructor Marlene Veras, the evening begins with a salsa lesson and ends with a full dance floor thanks to DJ Ray Suave. All levels are welcome, including those who’ve never counted a step in their lives.
Friday Night Vibes anchor the first and third Fridays of each month. DJs like Stretch and Price Is Right blend house, funk, and hip-hop while guests graze from over a dozen vendors and sip handcrafted cocktails. It’s Friday with intention— and flavor.
Spotlight Saturdays shine on collectives such as Noise Complaint and Motions & Movements, rotating fresh sets with live performances from underground favorites like DJ LSJ and DJ Aqutie.
Live Music Sundays slow things down without losing momentum. Performances by Melaner, Erin Boyd & the Cassarino Bros, and Najah Moeser begin at 2 p.m.—just in time for a leisurely lunch and bottomless cocktails. Brunch here doesn’t come with a waitlist—it comes with a live set.
Where Culture, Cuisine, and Cocktails Converge
Time Out Market New York’s rooftop is about experiencing the city from a fresh perspective. Where else in Brooklyn can you nosh on Morimoto hand rolls, sway to live jazz, take a salsa lesson, and watch the bridges light up—all in a single evening?

The Flatiron Room: A New York Institution, Miami Bound
Established in 2012, The Flatiron Room has become a destination for discerning cocktail enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With locations in NoMad and Murray Hill, and a highly anticipated Miami debut on the horizon, the venue is celebrated for its extensive selection of rare and unique spirits, meticulously crafted cocktails, and a food menu designed by Michelinstarred Chef Jiho Kim alongside Chef Randle Pagaragan. Live music and the signature Bottle Keep Program distinguish it from the typical dining or bar experience, while its sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere ensures guests feel at ease. Success in New York paved the way for expansion, and the forthcoming Miami location—inside the luxurious Aria Reserve in collaboration with Melo—promises to bring the brand’s distinctive identity to a new, dynamic market while honoring the local culture.

Q&A with Tommy Tardie
Caroline Dalal: The Flatiron Room has been a fixture in New York City for more than a decade. How would you describe its current success and place within the city’s hospitality scene?
Tommy Tardie: The Flatiron Room has been part of the New York City hospitality landscape for over 13 years now, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see it grow into a true destination for foodies, spirits lovers, live music enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a memorable night out. I think the reason we’ve done so well is because we’ve stayed true to what we do best—great food, an ever-changing selection of unique spirits, live music, and genuine hospitality. Over the years, we’ve built an amazing community of regulars, and we still get first-time guests who walk in, fall in love with the place, and become part of the family. That’s really the magic of it.
CD: Operating in New York comes with its own set of demands. What challenges have you faced over the years, and how have you navigated them?
TT: New York is constantly changing. Between shifting trends, staffing, and endless regulations, you’re constantly adapting. Coming out of the pandemic was probably the biggest challenge—figuring out how to keep the same high-level experience while reworking almost every part of how we operate. It wasn’t easy, but I think it made us stronger.
CD: As you prepare to open in Miami, what unique challenges have you encountered in bringing The Flatiron Room experience to a new market?
TT: Launching in Miami has been extremely exciting for us, but not without its share of curveballs. From navigating local permitting processes to building a space from the ground up in a completely new market, every step has been a learning experience. We’re also finetuning the balance between maintaining The Flatiron Room’s signature style and tailoring our approach to Miami’s unique culture.

That said, we’re incredibly grateful to be working with an established and prestigious brand like Melo, and to be opening inside the beautiful space they’ve created for us at Aria Reserve. While the business landscape in Miami differs from New York, we’ve embraced it as part of the adventure. Each challenge has only reinforced our excitement to be working in Miami, where the community and culture continue to inspire us to build something special and lasting.
CD: Looking ahead, what is your vision for The Flatiron Room Miami and the brand’s growth beyond this new location?
TT: We see The Flatiron Room Miami as the start of an exciting new chapter. The goal is to create a space that feels like it’s been part of the community for years while still offering something fresh and unexpected. Beyond Miami, we’re open to expanding into other cities where our concept of great food, exceptional spirits, and live music can resonate. Each new location will carry the DNA of The Flatiron Room, but with its own local flavor, making every space unique while still unmistakably us.
CD: You’re now catering to two distinct markets. How do you tailor the experience for each city while preserving the core identity
TT: Every city has its own personality, and we’ve enjoyed learning what makes each audience tick. We love Miami for its’ high-energy, social vibe—people love to see and be seen and we plan to match that with some Miami-specific elements. That said, the common thread is that both audiences appreciate quality, authenticity, and a sense of connection. Whether in NYC or Miami, people are looking for more than just a meal or a drink—they want an experience they’ll remember, and that’s exactly what we aim to deliver.
Bridging Cities, Elevating Experiences
As The Flatiron Room prepares to debut in Miami, Tommy Tardie is proving that true hospitality transcends geography. His ability to preserve the soul of a New York institution while infusing it with the personality of a new city speaks to both his vision and adaptability. For guests, the promise remains the same—exceptional food, rare spirits, and live music served with genuine warmth. In both the heart of Manhattan and along Biscayne Bay, The Flatiron Room continues to craft experiences that feel timeless, yet thrillingly of the moment.

A Dazzling Ode to the American Woman ALICE + OLIVIA’S SPRING 2026 COLLECTION
By Caroline Dalal
Stacey Bendet transforms Surrogate’s Court into a glittering celebration of style, history, and fearless femininity at New York Fashion Week.
A Sparkling Presentation at NYFW
Walking into Surrogate’s Court on Saturday afternoon felt like stepping into a living work of art. Every corner shimmered, every detail was deliberate, and the entire presentation radiated the kind of polish and theatricality that has become Stacey Bendet’s signature. The Spring 2026 alice + olivia showcase wasn’t just a highlight of New York Fashion Week, it was a visual love letter to the American woman.
The air buzzed with energy as fashion insiders, celebrities, and industry tastemakers gathered beneath the grand Beaux-Arts ceilings. Casamigos cocktails in hand, guests moved from one sparkling vignette to the next, accompanied by the sounds of Blu DeTiger’s live DJ set.
Celebrities and Style Icons in Attendance
Bendet’s presentation drew a star-studded crowd, underscoring the brand’s enduring influence in both Hollywood and fashion. Ashlee Simpson, Nicky Hilton, Brooks Nader, Julia Butters, Jenny Mollen, Liz Gillies, Isabella Briggs, Silvia Dionicio, Sofia Bryant, Renée
Elise Goldsberry, and Ava Dash were among those who joined the celebration. Each guest leaned into the mood of the afternoon, glamorous, playful, and unabashedly fashion-forward.
The Collection: A Love Letter to American Women
Stacey Bendet designed her Spring 2026 collection with a milestone in mind: the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. In her own words, “In 2026, as we honor the 250th anniversary of the United States, we celebrate the American woman. A woman who has shaped our culture, inspired our art, defined our fashion, and moved through history with strength and style. This collection is a love letter to her!”
The 45-look lineup reflected that sentiment beautifully. Bendet tapped into the pragmatism and charisma that define American style, balancing bold minimalism with a sense of play. Standout pieces included a poppy red bias-cut jersey gown reminiscent of 1940s glamour, a men’s suit reimagined with elongated tailoring and a crisp undone tie, and floor-length ball skirts splashed with playful mixed stripes.

Colors popped across the collection, poppy red, emerald green, navy, pale pink, and yellow formed a palette that was both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Fabrics spoke to America’s manufacturing heritage, with layered lace, jacquards, and burnout chiffons elevating texture. Eveningwear swung between eras: sweeping Gilded Age gowns met tuxedo mini dresses and corseted bombshell silhouettes.
Fashion Meets Americana
The set design amplified the message of the collection, turning the Hall of Records into a surrealist dreamscape. A 20-foot reinterpretation of the Statue of Liberty, draped in butterflies and roses, greeted guests as a symbol of resilience and renewal. Nearby, an abstract American flag mural and a reimagined Constitution titled We the Women anchored the show’s theme with bold symbolism.

Together, fashion and installation merged into an immersive journey through history, pop culture, and the indelible impact of American women on style.
A Defining Moment at NYFW
For me, walking through this presentation was like being swept into a glittering storybook, every sequin, stitch, and silhouette carried meaning. It was more than a fashion showcase; it was an affirmation of identity, artistry, and resilience.
With its intricate craftsmanship, historical nods, and thoroughly modern styling, alice + olivia’s Spring 2026 collection cemented itself as one of the season’s most memorable NYFW presentations. Stacey Bendet presented a vision of the American woman, past, present, and future.

ALEX S. YU Returns to New York Fashion Week with MEZZO MELANCHOLIES
By Caroline Dalal
The Vancouver-based designer presents poetic silhouettes and whimsical femininity at The Glass House
A Poetic Evening at The Glass House
On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Glass House in New York played host to an evening of dreamlike fashion as ALEX S. YU unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Mezzo Melancholies, presented by Global Fashion Collective. The show offered an exploration of femininity, weaving delicate textures and voluminous forms into an aesthetic that balanced nostalgia with modernity.
Yu’s latest collection stayed true to his reputation for merging the fantastical with the wear-
able, a philosophy that has guided his decadelong career. Each look embodied his belief in fashion as a bridge between reality and imagination, a sartorial space where creativity thrives.
The Everydaydreamer Philosophy
At the core of ALEX S. YU’s design identity lies the concept of the everydaydreamer—a figure who lives at the intersection of practicality and fantasy. Mezzo Melancholies expanded on this ethos with pieces that allowed wearers to navigate the demands of daily life while embracing individuality and joy.
The collection reimagined staples like tulle, ruffles, bold prints, and voluminous silhouettes into garments that encouraged both movement and expression. The result was a series of ensembles that invited the audience to see fashion not only as clothing but as a language of creativity and freedom
Two Sides of the Collection
Yu’s work is anchored in duality, and the SS26 presentation highlighted this balance through his Everyday and Daydreamer series.

The Everyday Series: Designed with comfort and versatility in mind, this line drew inspiration from West Coast ease. Breathable fabrics, understated color palettes, and thoughtful tailoring provided a sense of quiet luxury, allowing the pieces to slip seamlessly into modern wardrobes.
The Daydreamer Series: In contrast, this line embraced fantasy through playful prints, vibrant colors, and romantic details. It embodied the essence of imagination, celebrating garments that could transform the ordinary into moments of personal theater.
A Designer with Global Reach
Born in Taipei and raised in Vancouver, ALEX S. YU has built an international career rooted in a distinct vision of contemporary womenswear. After completing his studies at the Blanche Macdonald Centre in Vancouver and earning a graduate degree in womenswear from the London College of Fashion, Yu launched his label in 2014 at Vancouver Fashion Week, where he received the Emerging Designer of the Year award.
Over the past decade, Yu has showcased collections in global fashion capitals including New York, London, and Tokyo. His milestone 10th anniversary collection, Prologue 3688, debuted in October 2024, underscoring the longevity and evolution of his brand. With Mezzo Melancholies, Yu reaffirmed his place as a designer who celebrates femininity with a signature blend of whimsy and sophistication.
A Collection to Be Cherished
As the audience gathered inside The Glass House, it became clear that Mezzo Melancholies was more than a seasonal statement—it was a continuation of Yu’s pursuit to merge nostalgia, wanderlust, and joy into garments meant to be treasured. In every silhouette and every stitch, the designer invited his audience to step into a world where the practical meets the poetic, reminding us that fashion can still inspire a touch of magic in the everyday.

Cucculelli Shaheen Ignites NYFW with COLLECTION TWENTY-ONE: FLAMING HEARTS
By Caroline Dalal
A celebration of romance, rebellion, and handcrafted artistry at Pier 40
On September 15, 2025, as the sun dipped over the Hudson River, Cucculelli Shaheen presented Collection Twenty-One: Flaming Hearts at the Picnic House on Pier 40. The show unfolded against a backdrop of live music by New York–based band The Thing, weaving sound and style into a unified performance.
Designers Anna Shaheen and Anthony Cucculelli built their latest collection on a tapestry of allegories and cultural references—Over the Hills and Far Away, Veronese’s Time and Fame, Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir (1975), the portrait of Lady Meux, and Fools in the Rain. These inspirations coalesced into a meditation on romance, longing, and an unrelenting pursuit of beauty.
A Symphony of Craft and Storytelling
True to the brand’s DNA, the collection elevated handcraft to the level of storytelling. Intricate embroideries, sculptural silhouettes, and fluid fabrics embodied constant motion, while textures and tones highlighted the interplay of strength and fragility. Transformational flashes of light and shifting moods echoed across the palette, underscoring the narrative woven into each piece.
The energy of The Thing carried through the runway, infusing the show with raw rock-and-roll momentum. This synergy between music and fashion amplified the designers’ signature downtown edge, blending theatricality with couture-level craftsmanship.

Crafting the Atmosphere
The presentation was supported by a team of creative collaborators. Hair was styled by Oribe, makeup by MAC, and nails by Pattie Yankee with Dazzle Dry. Muzam Productions handled both production and casting, with Chase Tucker also contributing to casting decisions. Together, these elements built an environment that complemented the intensity and romance of the designs.
The Designers Behind the Brand
Founded in 2016, Cucculelli Shaheen is the vision of married duo Anna Rose Shaheen and Anthony Cucculelli. Their shared history—meeting in downtown New York in the mid-aughts and further shaping their creative partnership while designing in Florence—infuses the brand with a balance of classical reference and modern irreverence. Their résumé spans illustrious houses including Emilio Pucci, Oscar de la Renta, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Yigal Azrouël, and Roberto Cavalli, yet their own label has become synonymous with lush detail, mythological and musical references, and a subversive downtown silhouette.

Q&A WITH CUCCULELLI SHAHEEN
Caroline Dalal: Your pieces are known for their incredible detail and craftsmanship. What does that process look like behind the scenes?
Anna Rose Shaheen & Anthony Cucculelli: We always do a ton of research before we start designing the collection. Then, we’ll start to play around with some ideas or motifs that we find interesting, and we’ll work to prep those ideas into a pitch sheet for our embroidery team, with colors and materials that we find interesting that season. Then, the swatching process starts, and sometimes we can do up to ten rounds of swatches while we work on getting the colors and materials balance the way that feels correct for the collection. Simultaneously, we’ll be working on collection silhouettes - either revisiting an existing shape that we find interesting, or starting something new. Then we start to play around with combining embroidery, fabrics, and silhouettes together with lots of sketches and color iterations to see what feels best in the collection that season. Once we’ve finished that part of the design process, we’ll start to place any fabric patterns onto the pattern pieces and embroidery motifs as well as degrades and ombre placements. When the pieces come in, we’ll sometimes customize further in the studio during show fittings to make something unexpected!
CD: You’ve both worked with houses like Pucci, Cavalli, and Oscar de la Renta. How did those experiences shape the way you approach your own label today?
Anna Rose Shaheen & Anthony Cucculelli: Working in Italy, we really learned to appreciate a slower and more thoughtful approach to design. The care and detail that is taken making the garments is a contrast to New York, where sometimes the design process can feel very busy! So we try to take our time when designing the collection, and giving ourselves the space to breathe to make sure we’re heading in the right direction for each collection.
CD: As partners in both life and design, how does that dynamic shape your creative process?
Anna Rose Shaheen & Anthony Cucculelli: We’ve been working together for a long time, but the most important lesson we’ve learned is there is work and then there is life. And we try really hard not to let any difference of opinion when designing cross over! Our agreement is that we both have to agree on a look for it to be in the collection. If one of us isn’t into a look, it doesn’t go on the design boards. Sometimes we don’t always agree - and when that happens, one person usually needs to convince the other, or the second person may interpret the idea in a way that makes sense to them, and a new idea comes out of it. These looks or ideas always end up being our favorites, so we’ve learned to embrace this part of the process!
CD: New York is always your muse. What about the city right now is inspiring you most?
Anna Rose Shaheen & Anthony Cucculelli: We love being able to go out and hear any kind of live music you can imagine - we made an effort this spring and summer during the design process to see as many concerts as

possible, mainly in smaller venues to really experience the music. This is how we came across the band for our show - The Thing - as they were playing a live show in Thompkins Square Park and we thought they would be a perfect compliment for the runway show!
CD: Many of your pieces feel timeless. How do you think about creating garments with lasting value in a fast-moving industry?
Anna Rose Shaheen & Anthony Cucculelli: This is incredibly important for us - one of our main areas of focus is the hand-beading and embroidery, as well as timeless materials, that go into each collection. We’re designing pieces that are meant to last more than one season - they aren’t inexpensive to produce or to purchase, so we want to ensure that they have a lasting value. We keep all of our collections open - so someone can come in and order a piece from Collection One and we can still make it for them. So we don’t waste all of that design work for only one season - it lives on, and clients can wear something from any collection and not feel dated. We aim to have our first collections stay as relevant as our recent ones, so we will often play with earlier motifs or silhouettes and update them throughout the seasons.
Carrying the Flame Forward
With Flaming Hearts, Cucculelli Shaheen reaffirmed their reputation for marrying meticulous craftsmanship with evocative narrative. By fusing hand-embellished detail with live music and cultural allegory, the duo created an atmosphere where fashion became performance. Their latest work is both a reflection of the past and a signal of the brand’s enduring place in the future of New York fashion.

DENNIS BASSO Presents New World Glamour for Spring/Summer 2026
By Caroline Dalal
The designer’s vision of the strong American woman shines at NYFW with timeless elegance and modern energy
On September 16, 2025, Dennis Basso unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 collection at The Columbus Foundation in New York City. Guests including Wendy Williams, Crystal Waters, Ramona Singer, Didi Jay, and Carolina Vazzana gathered to see a presentation that celebrated the multifaceted strength of American women.
A Tribute to the Strong American Woman
For this season, Basso drew inspiration from what he describes as the strong American woman—multitasking, dynamic, and unapologetically herself. The collection balanced practicality with glamour, featuring tailored silhouettes softened by feminine touches. “It’s what I call New World glamour,” Basso explained in his show notes.
The presentation showcased a spectrum of luxurious fabrics, from pleated chiffon and double-faced satin to embroidered silk, taffeta, and organza. Handmade silk petals created entire fields of flowers in bloom, while flowing scarves, petite evening boleros, and “summer furs” in broadtail, sable, and mink highlighted Basso’s signature flair.
His color palette was equally refined, with soft shades of mint, buttercup, and ice blue, anchored by the eternal elegance of black and white. Silhouettes ranged from one-shoulder gowns and knee-length dinner dresses to wide-leg trousers and tailored day ensembles. In a nod to inclusivity, Basso integrated pieces from his QVC line, Dennis by Dennis Basso, underscoring his belief in creating fashion for women of all ages and lifestyles.

Q&A WITH DENNIS BASSO
Caroline Dalal: Can you tell us a little bit about the story and inspiration behind the collection?
Dennis Basso: The collection was based on strong American women— the women of today. She’s a mother, she’s running a company, she has a husband, she has a girlfriend, she has a boyfriend, she’s busy. I wanted the collection to come full circle, to be both practical and luxurious. She could mix pieces from my QVC collection with high-end looks, and together it all becomes one. The tailoring is there, but always with big touches of femininity.
CD: How do you envision women feeling in this collection?
Dennis Basso: Clothing has to make you look good, but more importantly, it should make you feel good. That’s what this collection is about—feeling good and looking good. When you get dressed up and put something on, it should make you feel special.
CD: You’re known for timeless elegance. How do you blend that with modern trends?
Dennis Basso: Women today want to be timeless, but they also want to be elegant. I see it as a natural progression—it’s about evolving with what’s happening now while keeping that essence of classic style.
CD: Your clientele spans generations. How do you design for women across different age groups?
Dennis Basso: In this collection, there are long, gorgeous looks for someone seeking glamour, but also shorter, sassier pieces for someone young and fun. That’s the whole idea—something for every generation.
CD: As an influential voice in the industry, what excites you most about the future of your brand?
Dennis Basso: The excitement comes from growth. I’ve dressed grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and now I’m designing for the next generation. That’s what’s fun. I honestly feel like I’ve just gotten started.
Forty Years and Beyond
As Dennis Basso celebrates more than four decades in fashion, his Spring/ Summer 2026 collection reaffirmed his ability to evolve while remaining true to his DNA of elegance and luxury. On October 8, he will appear in conversation with Fern Mallis at the 92nd Street Y as part of Fashion Icons, reflecting on his storied career and looking ahead to what’s next.

JANET MANDELL’S ARCHIVAL RUNWAY
Brings Vintage Icons Back to Life at NYFW
By Caroline Dalal
A candlelit celebration of fashion history and innovation opens the week in New York
New York Fashion Week opened with a show that felt more like a cultural reset than a traditional runway. Janet Mandell, the visionary behind one of the industry’s most exclusive luxury rental houses, staged a candlelit tribute to vintage fashion that fused the glamour of the past with the innovation shaping its future.
A Candlelit Ode to the Icons
Guests were transported into an atmosphere of quiet reverence and anticipation as models stepped out in rare archival pieces from the 1990s and early 2000s. The lineup read like a syllabus of modern fashion history: Roberto Cavalli’s animal prints, Dior under John Galliano, Tom Ford’s provocative Gucci, and the unmistakable tailoring and sensuality of Gianni Versace. Each look sparked conversation among attendees, many of whom were already imagining their next red-carpet moment in the very same designs.
Mandell explained her intention with clarity: “Fashion needs a reset and this is where Janet Mandell comes in to help elevate that process. Tonight’s runway was about honoring the past while showing the world what comes next for fashion, retail, and sustainability.”
Where Luxury Rental Meets Couture Care
With showrooms in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, Janet Mandell has redefined what luxury rental means in today’s fashion economy. Her archive offers access to garments once reserved for museum displays or private collections, presented with couture-level service and meticulous

attention to detail. Celebrities such as the Kardashians, Alix Earle, Rachel Zoe, the Nader sisters, Mindy Kaling, Delilah Belle, and Lisa Rinna have all turned to the brand for red-carpet statements that balance exclusivity with sustainability.
Each showroom is outfitted with expert tailors who treat every garment with the precision of an atelier. Temporary alterations ensure fit without compromise, while Mandell’s approach allows vintage couture to live again and again on the world’s most visible stages.
Technology and Sustainability at the Forefront
Season after season, Janet Mandell has proven that luxury can also lead the charge toward sustainability. This runway marked the debut of her advanced technology platform, an ecosystem that integrates a Distribution API, the Bestow Consignment Model, and AI-driven SaaS solutions. The Bestow model empowers clients to consign their wardrobes, extend garment lifespans through rentals, and eventually connect with the right buyers for resale.

The combination of archival reverence and forward-looking technology positions Mandell at the crossroads of where fashion is headed: an industry that honors craftsmanship while rethinking ownership.
A Mission That Resonates
At its heart, the brand embodies more than beautiful clothing. The philosophy is rooted in creating a complete luxury experience—from oneon-one styling and concierge-level service to the simple thrill of wearing a piece of fashion history. The mantra is as striking as the runway itself: Dress like you own it.
A Brand with Staying Power
Founded by Robert and Janet Mandell and headquartered in Chicago, the brand continues to expand its influence from coast to coast. By marrying archival treasures with cutting-edge technology and couture service, Janet Mandell has positioned herself not only as a guardian of fashion’s past but as one of its most innovative architects.

FASHION DESIGNERS OF LATIN AMERICA Expands Its Global Vision at NYFW
By Caroline Dalal
Albania Rosario on mentorship, representation, and the growing influence of Latin American fashion
This September, Fashion Designers of Latin America (FDLA) returned to New York Fashion Week with a message that transcended the runway: fashion is about people, culture, and community. Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Albania Rosario, FDLA continues to elevate Latin American designers on the global stage, providing them with a platform that celebrates artistry, heritage, and innovation.
The 2025 edition brought together a powerful mix of events and shows that underscored FDLA’s mission. Festivities opened September 12 with a Fashion Talk Meet & Greet at Gambit Art Gallery, followed by a cocktail reception and the release of FDLA Spotlight Magazine, which featured designers and celebrities shaping Latin American fashion today.
On September 14, FDLA staged its Collective Shows at the Starrett-Lehigh Building. The day began with FDLA KIDS, spotlighting young talent and playful creativity, with collections from Angie Polanco, Aurora Dresses, and the Multicultural Kids collaboration by Carlos Sierra and Albania Rosario. The debut of PUENTE, presented by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, introduced designers from the
Restrepo and San Victorino regions, while Agatha Ruiz de la Prada made a memorable guest appearance with her signature color-driven designs.
The main shows featured standout collections from Manuel Febrillet, Dariela Castilla, Idol José, and concluded with a grand finale by Argentine designer Benito Fernandez. Later in the week, the Legendary, Iconic, Timeless Beauty press event at United Palace honored designers’ contributions to Latin American fashion, attended by industry leaders and civic figures. Closing highlights included presentations by Giannina Azar, Carlos Sierra, Aleska Genesis with the debut of BRILLESKA, and Carlos Pineda’s tribute to Mexico’s Independence Day, complete with live mariachis and Mezcal Santo Gusano.
FDLA concluded on September 16 with MARCAS LATAM: Buy the Runway, a dynamic shopping event that connected designers directly with buyers, executives, and fashion enthusiasts. Through these experiences, FDLA reaffirmed its vision of fashion as a human story, defined by resilience, diversity, and boundless creativity.

Caroline Dalal: Your shows highlight such intricate, detail-driven work. How do you choose the designers that best represent Latin American fashion?
Albania Rosario: At FDLA, our selection process is rooted in celebrating the diversity, artistry, and cultural heritage of Latin America. We look for designers who are not only masters of their craft, but who also bring unique stories and innovative techniques to the table— whether through sustainable practices, artisanal methods, or bold creative visions. Our goal is to spotlight talent that embodies the spirit of Latin American fashion and pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, both on the runway and beyond.
CD: I attended the FDLA show in New York — what does it mean to you to see it become such a key part of NYFW?
Albania Rosario: It’s incredibly meaningful to see FDLA recognized as an integral part of NYFW. When I started this journey over 15 years ago, my dream was to create a platform

Q&A WITH ALBANIA ROSARIO, FDLA FOUNDER & CEO

where Latin American designers could shine on the global stage. Seeing our community embraced by the New York fashion world is a testament to the power of persistence, collaboration, and the undeniable talent of our designers. It motivates me every day to keep building bridges and opening doors for the next generation.
CD: How does your work with FDLA connect to your mission of mentoring and empowering women and minorities?
Albania Rosario: Mentorship and empowerment are at the heart of everything we do at FDLA. As a Latina entrepreneur, I understand the challenges women and minorities face in this industry. That’s why we invest in educational programs, leadership opportunities, and inclusive platforms that uplift underrepresented voices. Through FDLA, we strive to create a supportive ecosystem where emerging talent can grow, connect, and realize their full potential.

CD: FDLA has reached global stages like South Korea and Dubai. What impact do you hope this international presence will have on Latin American designers?
Albania Rosario: Taking FDLA to international stages is about more than just showcasing beautiful collections—it’s about changing perceptions and expanding opportunities for Latin American talent. I hope our global presence inspires designers to dream bigger and encourages the world to recognize the richness and innovation of Latin American fashion. By connecting cultures and markets, we’re opening doors for our designers to collaborate, grow their brands, and make a lasting impact worldwide.
CD: After more than a decade with FDLA, what has been the most rewarding moment for you so far?
Albania Rosario: There have been so many unforgettable moments, but the most rewarding are always those where I see our designers succeed—whether it’s their first runway show, a major international collaboration, or the pride in their families’ eyes. Knowing that FDLA has played a part in their journey, and in elevating our culture on a global stage, is truly priceless. It’s a constant reminder of why I started FDLA and why I remain so passionate about our mission.
Building Bridges, Creating Legacy
As Albania Rosario reflected, FDLA is not only about showcasing fashion but also about building opportunities and reshaping narratives. By honoring cultural heritage, uplifting underrepresented talent, and connecting Latin America to international markets, FDLA continues to expand its influence well beyond New York Fashion Week. For Rosario, the legacy is clear: empowering designers while celebrating the humanity at the heart of fashion.

NARDOS SPRING/SUMMER 2026 COLLECTION
Brings Shakespearean Poetry and Natural Grace to NYFW
By Caroline Dalal
Inside Nardos Imam’s vision of renewal at The Pierre Hotel’s Grand Ballroom
On September 16, 2025, the Grand Ballroom of The Pierre Hotel in New York City became the stage for a collection that blended theater, nature, and couture. Creative Director Nardos Imam unveiled her Spring/Summer 2026 collection for luxury fashion house NARDOS, presenting a deeply personal exploration of rebirth that moved between Shakespearean cadence and organic fluidity.
The Vision: Renewal Through Fabric and Form
Imam’s latest collection reflected her belief that clothing should stir emotion and tell stories without words. Inspired by the arcs of Shakespearean drama and the sweeping curves of the natural world, the designs captured renewal through movement and tone. Fabrics appeared to “dance” as they flowed, with delicate shades and emotive silhouettes enhancing the theme of transformation.
The show carried forward Imam’s dual aesthetic: modernity infused with nostalgia. Styled alongside Joseph Erico, Editor in Chief of Grazia USA, the collection balanced romance with strength, delivering garments that resonated as both personal and performative.
Behind the Scenes at The Pierre
Staged in the timeless grandeur of The Pierre, a Taj Hotel, the show’s details reflected couturelevel precision. Hair was styled by Matthew Curtis for Goldwell, while Marcello Costa led makeup. Accessories amplified the drama, with Manolo Blahnik shoes and jewelry by JJR completing the looks. Cars from Blue Venom F5 with Hennessey and SkinSips by Mary Rankin added distinctive touches to the event’s atmosphere.

The Designer’s Story
Nardos Imam’s journey is as intricate as her designs. Born and raised in Eritrea, she grew up surrounded by the rhythm of her mother’s sewing machine—an early influence that would shape her career. After moving to the United States, she began her professional path at Richard Brooks, a luxury fabric store in Dallas, before becoming the in-house designer at Stanley Korshak. There, her mastery of fit, color, and architectural detail cultivated a loyal clientele. In 2012, Imam launched her own fashion house, NARDOS Couture. Today, her creations span couture, ready-to-wear, bridal, and accessories, consistently defined by exquisite craftsmanship and embellishment. Embroidery, beading, and her architectural approach
to silhouettes have made her a go-to designer for celebrities seeking gowns that combine timeless femininity with contemporary artistry.
A Living Performance
The Spring/Summer 2026 collection underscored Imam’s philosophy that fashion is a form of living performance. Each garment, with its carefully orchestrated details, spoke to the themes of rebirth and renewal while inviting women to embrace both strength and romance in their wardrobes.
In a season filled with theatrical references and artistic dialogues, NARDOS distinguished itself by transforming fabric into poetry, reaffirming Imam’s place among the most thoughtful and compelling voices in couture today.

NEGRIS LEBRUM Serves Up the “Matcha
Martini” Collection at New York Fashion Week
By Caroline Dalal
Designer Travis Hamilton blends vintage elegance with playful modern twists in a spirited SS26 runway at the Metropolitan Pavilion
A Spirited Evening in Chelsea
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea set the stage for Negris LeBrum’s Spring/Summer 2026 “Matcha Martini” Collection, unveiled as part of New York Fashion Week. Designer Travis Hamilton infused the evening with a sense of ease and lightheartedness, offering a collection inspired by a family dinner conversation that blossomed into a full-fledged fashion narrative.
What began as a simple suggestion from Hamilton’s nephew to call the line “Matcha” evolved into “Matcha Martini”—a title that mirrors the collection’s essence: refreshing, playful, and undeniably stylish.
The Collection: Vintage Glamour with Modern Energy
The “Matcha Martini” Collection embodies Negris LeBrum’s signature nod to timeless elegance, reinterpreted for today’s woman. Each look was crafted to reflect a different persona, celebrating individuality while honoring classic silhouettes.
The runway brought to life 1950s and 1960s-inspired makeup and hairstyles, adding a glamorous layer to designs that fused retro charm with modern sensibilities. Structured tailoring, flowing dresses, and playful detailing revealed a designer unafraid to bridge decades while keeping the spirit of the brand intact.
Hamilton explained his approach simply: “This was the easiest and most relaxed collection I’ve designed. I wanted the joy I felt creating it to translate directly to the runway, to the audience, and ultimately to the women who wear these clothes.”

A Cocktail-Inspired Collaboration
Adding to the night’s festive tone, Negris LeBrum partnered with Kansas Whiskey to craft a signature cocktail aptly named The Matcha Martini Collection. Served before and after the show, the cocktail became a seamless extension of the collection’s story, blurring the lines between fashion and lifestyle. Guests toasted to the runway while sipping the green-hued creation, reinforcing the collection’s celebratory mood.
Beyond the Runway
The brand also revealed plans for a capsule edition of the “Matcha Martini” Collection, scheduled for release this fall. Featuring alternate color selections, the capsule arrives just in time for the holiday season, offering a new way for women to embrace Hamilton’s latest vision.
Negris LeBrum’s Continuing Legacy
Founded with a spirit of storytelling and cultural reflection, Negris LeBrum has consistently crafted collections that honor tradition while embracing modernity. With Matcha Martini, Hamilton delivers not only garments but also an experience—one where fashion, family, and lifestyle converge.
The evening at the Metropolitan Pavilion was more than a runway presentation; it was a toast to creativity, heritage, and joy. For an audience seeking luxury with personality, Negris LeBrum’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection was a reminder that style, like a perfectly mixed martini, should always be savored.

When Pamella Roland staged her Spring/ Summer 2026 runway show at the New York Public Library on September 16, the designer reaffirmed her position as one of fashion’s leading voices in modern eveningwear. With guests including Nicky Hilton, Jamie Chung, Bianca Lawson, Flaviana Matata, Jaimie Alexander, and Jay Manuel in attendance, the show blended art, architecture, and couture into a collection that was as daring as it was romantic.
A Collection Painted by Art
This season’s inspiration drew from the dynamic world of American modern art, channeling the lyrical brushstrokes of Georgia O’Keeffe, Frank Stella’s geometric precision, Andy Warhol’s fearless pop sensibility, and Alice Baber’s radiant color fields.
Aqua, blush, and champagne provided the foundation for more daring bursts of lemon, fuchsia, and red. Custom ombré chiffons evoked O’Keeffe’s floral spirit, while watercolor chine mirrored Baber’s vivid fields of color. Or-
ganic 3D tulle florals, feathered ombré effects, and metallic lines brought an interplay of softness and structure. Among the highlights:
• A mirrored laser-cut plexiglass cocktail dress.
• A sapphire faille mermaid gown adorned with foiled floral appliqués.
• A hand-embroidered pink-to-white ombré organza gown with a matching cape for the finale.
The result was a bold celebration of individuality, merging couture craftsmanship with the expressive language of modern art.
Craft Behind the Curtain
The production itself was a carefully orchestrated work of art, with makeup by Rick DiCecca for Artistry by Amway, hair by Narad Kutowaroo for Unite Haircare, nails by Pattie Yankee and team PYP, and jewelry from Chopard. The runway design was enhanced by set designer Edward Ross and lighting designer Thierry Dreyfus, while Javier Peral curated the music that set the show’s rhythm.

FASHION
The Designer in Conversation
Known globally for her glamorous red-carpet gowns, Pamella Roland continues to innovate with each season, balancing technical mastery with a focus on wearability. After her Spring/ Summer 2026 show, Resident Magazine sat down with Roland to discuss her inspiration, her approach to design, and what lies ahead.

Q&A WITH PAMELLA ROLAND
Kyra Rauschenbach: Congratulations on a beautiful collection—the colors, the shapes, the chiffons were incredible. Can you share the inspiration behind this season?
Pamella Roland: Thank you. This collection was inspired by American modern art. I’m on the board of the Whitney Museum, and I’ve always admired artists like Andy Warhol, JoJo Kee, and Frank Stella. Their vibrant flowers and bold use of color really informed this season. We wanted it to be bright, fun, and full of energy.
KR: Looking back at last season and ahead to the next, how does this collection fit into the broader story of Pamella Roland?
Pamella Roland: Our next is the pre-fall collection, which we don’t present on the runway but still design in full. Then in February, we’ll return with our fall show. Each season builds on the last, and we’re always evolving with new ideas.

KR: You’ve often spoken about your transatlantic business. How does designing for different markets influence your work?
Pamella Roland: We have a really strong business in Paris and across Europe. Buyers there often want something very different from American buyers. So we’re always mindful of tailoring collections to different customers’ preferences. That’s been a big part of our continued success.
KR: You’ve dressed many high-profile celebrities. Do you ever design with one person specifically in mind?
Pamella Roland: Occasionally, someone will request a custom gown, such as a wedding dress. But overall, I don’t design with just one person in mind. Over the years, I’ve dressed so many actresses and celebrities. My focus is always on creating pieces that work beautifully for many different women.

KR: When a woman steps into one of your gowns, how do you want her to feel?
Pamella Roland: Confident, beautiful, and— most importantly—comfortable. I had an experience at the Oscars years ago where the corset of my gown was so uncomfortable it cut into me, and I had to leave early. After that, I became determined to perfect a comfortable corset. Now, our gowns are known for this. Actresses and brides often tell us they can wear them all night without issue. Eva Longoria even once praised them from the stage! It’s rare to hear someone say a gown is truly comfortable, and I’m proud that ours are.
KR: You’re at the forefront of eveningwear’s evolution. Where do you see trends heading next season?
Pamella Roland: Honestly, it all comes down to listening to the customer. Trends vary so much
internationally—what buyers want in the Middle East may differ completely from the U.S. or Europe. We don’t show everything on the runway because there’s only so much time, but our collections are always responsive to what women want. That’s what guides us season after season.
Looking Ahead
With her Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Pamella Roland reinforced her legacy as a designer who balances couture glamour with technical innovation and comfort. By drawing on the vibrancy of American modern art and pairing it with her perfected corsetry, she continues to define the evolving language of eveningwear for women worldwide.

THE BLONDS SPRING SUMMER 2026
A Glamour Safari at New York Fashion Week
By Caroline Dalal & Kyra Rauschenbach
Inside the cinematic spectacle at Prince George Ballroom with an exclusive Q&A
On September 15, 2025, The Blonds transformed the Prince George Ballroom into a cinematic dreamscape for their Spring/Summer 2026 runway show. With a front row that included Lil Kim, Crystal Waters, Susanne Bartsch, Ashley Longshore, Emira D’Spain, Dimitris Giannetos, Meredith Marks, Maureen Wrobelwitz, Aquaria, and Gigi Gorgeous, the night was as much a cultural gathering as it was a fashion event.
The collection carried the audience into what the designers described as a glamour safari—an “urban jungle oasis” where drama was the dress code and each look shimmered with theatricality. Silver screen sirens and femme fatales strutted in corsets, stilettos, and crystal-encrusted details, embodying the cinematic spirit of the season.
A Cinematic Fashion Experience
The Blonds are known for shows that blur the boundary between runway and spectacle, and Spring/Summer 2026 was no exception. Each model was envisioned as a character in a story, with the overarching narrative culminating in the arrival of “Madame Hollywood,” the star of Blonds of Paradise.
Textures and silhouettes pushed boundaries: chiffon softened structured tailoring, corsetry glistened with Preciosa crystals, and footwear by Christian Louboutin reinforced the drama. The creative atmosphere was heightened by beauty details that took on an otherworldly dimension— gravity-defying hair styled by Kien Hoang for Oribe with TYMO hot tools, nails by Jan Arnold in collaboration with Glitterbels, and makeup by Deney Adam for MAC Cosmetics. The Misshapes set the soundtrack, building a rhythm that matched the collection’s theatrical flow.

Photos: Daniel Perry Studios

The after party, held high above the city at The Riff Raff Club on the 39th level of The Virgin Hotels, extended the night’s sense of excess and individuality.
Nails as Couture Statements
One of the evening’s most striking elements was the debut of Glitterbels in the U.S. as the official nail sponsor. Founder Annabel Maginnis and industry pioneer Jan Arnold crafted intricate designs that mirrored the collection’s themes: Seductress (serpent meets sexy), Tigresa (channeling the energy of the tiger), and Venus Traps (inspired by carnivorous plants). These looks transformed nails into extensions of the garments, reinforcing The Blonds’ philosophy that every detail carries weight in storytelling.
About The Blonds
Founded by Phillipe Blond and David Blond, the New York–based brand has long been a favorite of the entertainment industry, creating one-of-a-kind garments inspired by music, film, and art. Their signature is an eclectic mix of textiles, embroidery, and embellishments designed to accentuate the human form with unapologetic glamour.

Q&A WITH THE BLONDS
Kyra Rauschenbach: Speaking of wearability, music is such an important part of your personal love story and your creative process. Are there any artists in particular you’re working with right now?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: What I find is that we’ve grown so much—we work with everyone. There’s really no limitation. I don’t think people realize how many different life groups we get to collaborate with. It’s very creative, and that’s what inspires me: artistic collaboration and elevating ideas to bring them to life.
KR: That showgirl tailoring was amazing last season—it felt seamless.
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: That’s always been the DNA of what we do, but last season we wanted to present it in a modern way. The show was a classic rendition, but we mixed in new elements, changing between looks and embracing different inspirations.

KR: Tonight you’re calling the theme a secret, or character level. Can you describe that?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: Yes—our inspiration is a powerful showgirl, almost like she’s starring in her own film. Each girl has her own character development. For example, you’ll see chiffons, which I don’t typically use—I usually design more structured looks. This season is about growth, softness, and storytelling.
KR: And beauty is a big part of that storytelling too?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: Absolutely. The nails are incredible—extensions shaped like little claws, created by Glitter Bells, really making a statement. For hair, we’re working with Oribe and Taimo hot tools to create alien-like structures—bird-inspired, even praying mantis-like. You’ll see gravity-defying hair, some with strong animalistic elements.
KR: Your shows bring together so many modalities—fabric, nails, hair, art. What’s the holistic picture tonight?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: It’s really a collage of characters we’ve created in our minds, realized by all the creatives—beauty teams, nail artists, hair stylists. Each girl is transformed into her own creature or personality. Without any one element, the story wouldn’t be complete. Every detail matters.
KR: And what’s the story evolution from last season?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: This is like a sequel. Last season, our character was an actress-model-showgirl. Now she’s become a star—“Madame Hollywood”—starring in The Blondes of Paradise. You’ll see looks inspired by Venus Fly Traps, ruins of paradise, zebras, leopards—it’s going to be wild.
KR: I overheard the term “jungle safari.” Can you talk about that?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: It’s our idea of a fashion safari—glamorous, couture, and very blonde. Each girl is imagined as if you’re on safari, but it’s elevated into couture fantasy.
KR: So it’s excess, individuality, and story. Do you see The Blonds making a cultural statement?
Phillipe Blond & David Blond: We don’t aim to make political or cultural statements. Quite the opposite—we want people to have fun with fashion, to escape, to feel good when they see a show or wear a piece. That’s really what inspires us.
A Runway of Escape and Excess
With their Spring/Summer 2026 collection, The Blonds once again proved their mastery of spectacle, turning the runway into an immersive escape. By merging cinematic storytelling with couture craftsmanship and high-octane beauty, they reaffirmed their place as one of New York Fashion Week’s most theatrical and talked-about acts.

WHERE THE LAKE MEETS LUXURY
A Stay with Jayne’s Cottages
By Brandon Travin
Inside the Canadian cottage collection redefining escape with architecture, privacy, and five-star ease

A New Standard in Secluded Luxury
There are places that whisper luxury—and then there are places like Muskoka, where it’s spoken fluently in the rustle of pine trees, the glint of water through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the morning silence broken only by the soft landing of a floatplane. For global travelers seeking exclusivity with soul, Jayne’s Luxury Rentals has become the signature of elevated cottage living in Ontario’s most coveted region. This June, I experienced it firsthand. Floatplane to dock. Private chef on arrival. S’mores at sunset. And throughout it all, a striking sense of calm that felt worlds away from the noise of city life—even though it was just a two-hour drive from Toronto. For New Yorkers, this is a getaway that feels far-flung without the jet lag. For international travelers, it’s a Canadian secret finally stepping into the global spotlight.
Jayne’s Cottages: The Blueprint for Cottage Luxury
Founded by Jayne McCaw in 2014, Jayne’s Luxury Rentals didn’t just respond to demand—it created a market. Drawing from her own frustrations as a luxury traveler, McCaw envisioned a platform where five-star hotellevel service met the comfort and authenticity of private home rentals. Today, Jayne’s portfolio spans over 300 properties, most in the Muskoka region, with others extending into Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay, and beyond.
But don’t let the word cottages fool you. These homes are expansive, multi-million-dollar lakefront estates complete with everything from yoga pavilions to cinema rooms and private docks. Each property comes fully equipped with Jayne’s signature white linens (larger in
supply than the nearest JW Marriott’s, I’m told), premium amenities, and round-the-clock concierge services.
Some, like Wildcat Point or Santosha on Lake Rosseau—where I stayed—are designed for slowing down: reading in a Muskoka chair, kayaking past loons, and dining on dockside meals prepared by a private chef. Others, such as Theobald Island or Old Woman Island, accommodate groups of 10 to 32 guests and transform into private resort-style estates complete with hot tubs, tennis courts, and multiple beaches.
Seamless Service, Elevated Simplicity
During our curated escape, every detail was seamless. A four-course dinner prepared in-cottage by a private chef welcomed us on the first

evening. Sunrise yoga on the dock set the tone for leisurely mornings. And whether we were hiking Huckleberry Rock or boarding a pontoon for a tour of celebrity-owned homes with Jayne herself, there was a consistent throughline: everything was taken care of before we had to ask.
The Jayne’s team acts less like a rental agency and more like a lifestyle management service. Daily housekeeping? Of course. Boat charters, wine tastings, and spa treatments? Just say when. Want to arrive by floatplane straight to your dock from Billy Bishop airport? That’s already arranged.
It’s a rare mix—Canadian hospitality with international polish—and it makes the experience feel quietly indulgent. Nothing is overdone, but nothing is overlooked either.

Biophilic Design as a Philosophy
At Jayne’s, the homes are not only wellserviced—they’re deeply rooted in the land. Many are examples of biophilic architecture, designed to connect guests more meaningfully to their natural surroundings. Timber-framed estates like Westwood or Rosseau Manor, designed by acclaimed architect Simon Hirsh, celebrate Muskoka’s elements through sustainable materials, open layouts, and immersion in the landscape.
Meanwhile, contemporary names like Alex Foreshew are pushing the design language forward with homes like Bal Harbour and A Modern Moose Lodge. These spaces are sculpted into granite shorelines, clad in natural finishes, and filled with warm, earthy interiors. Every window is a frame for the outdoors—no art necessary.
A Global Destination for a Slower Kind of Luxury
It’s no accident that Muskoka is attracting more international visitors than ever before. In 2025, Jayne’s saw a 135% increase in U.S. bookings compared to the previous year—and that was by April. Americans, in particular, are increas-
ingly looking north for alternatives to overcrowded European destinations or politically fraught domestic escapes. And Muskoka offers a compelling answer: privacy, space, nature, and service at a world-class level.
Weekly rates range from CAD $3,410 for a two-bedroom cottage on Lake Rosseau, to CAD $62,625 for a 16 acre private island on Lake Muskoka with accommodation for up to 32 guests. But with rates more favorable against the Canadian dollar, even British and European travelers are finding Muskoka an attractive financial choice for luxury stays.
The Real Luxury? Time Well Spent
Back in the city, I still think about that first morning in Muskoka—waking to the quiet hum of lake life beginning, wandering to the dock, coffee in hand, not a meeting or notification in sight. That stillness has become its own kind of currency.
And that’s what Jayne’s delivers best: space not just to vacation, but to reconnect—authentically, beautifully, and in complete privacy. For those searching for a more meaningful kind of luxury, this isn’t just a stay. It’s a return to what matters.

A CREATIVE SANCTUARY IN THE CAPITAL
Inside Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid
By Caroline Dalal
With theatrical design, 24-hour breakfasts, and concierge service that goes above and beyond, this award-winning boutique hotel redefines opulent living in Madrid’s most artistic quarter.

A Stay That Starts With a Smile—and Sunlight
During my stay in Madrid, I set out to uncover the most exquisite hotels the city has to offer. What I discovered at Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid was personality, playfulness, and poise wrapped into a 19th-century mansion. Tucked away in the hip Salesas neighborhood near Chueca and Paseo de Recoletos, this stylish escape merges high design with heartwarming hospitality. And yes, I fell for it immediately.
As I walked in, I was struck by one of the hotel’s most refreshing features: light. Natural
light streams through oversized windows and glass-paneled ceilings, creating an open, airy ambiance that blurs the lines between indoor opulence and Madrid’s streetside charm. Even inside, it feels like the city is still swirling around you.
Design That Dares to Be Different
Interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán’s vision for the hotel is a spirited departure from the expected. It’s a place where mismatched decor becomes harmonious. No two spaces are alike, yet every hallway, lounge, and corner works together like chapters in a beautifully eccentric novel.
There’s the Platos Room, an immersive space lined floor-to-ceiling with porcelain blue-andwhite plates encased in glass. Nearby, an elevator cloaked in bookshelves turns a mundane ride into a literary escape. Hall Rojo boasts crimson cabinetry filled with intricate sketches and art pieces, while whimsical architectural features—like doorways framed with vintage suitcases—invite you to expect the unexpected at every turn.
Each area has its own identity, and yet there’s an overarching elegance that ties it all together. It’s theatrical but not overwhelming, refined yet imaginative—a curated chaos that’s surprisingly calming.
The Superior Room: Bright, Elegant, and Perfectly Placed
We stayed in the Superior Room, which overlooked Barquillo Street and the historic Santa Isabel Theatre. One of my favorite aspects was the view—watching locals stroll by added a lovely sense of connection to the city just beyond our window. The room itself was elegant, bright, and welcoming, with thoughtful design touches that made it the ideal place to unwind and make the most of our time in Madrid.
Room service was a highlight. The Margherita pizza arrived hot, its crust crisp and airy, and the Club Sandwich was a classic done right. It’s the kind of indulgence that’s worth staying in for.
Breakfast, Anytime You Want It
Let’s talk about breakfast—because here, it’s not bound by the clock. One of the most charming aspects of Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid is its 24-hour à la carte breakfast offering. Yes, you can have scrambled eggs at midnight or churros with hot chocolate at 3 p.m. without judgment. It’s a thoughtful touch that speaks to the hotel’s guest-first mentality.
We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet in the Platos Room, where the ambiance was just as memorable as the food. Delicate pastries, mini sandwiches, Spanish charcuterie, and a generous helping of churros made for mornings we actually looked forward to.

Service That Anticipates Your Needs
Exceptional hospitality often comes down to the people—and here, the concierge team deserves its own standing ovation. Whether helping us book museum tours or offering last-minute dining recommendations, their local knowledge and kindness elevated our stay. Every interaction felt intentional and personalized, a rarity in even the most polished properties.
Culinary Curiosity: Dining Across Spaces
Dining at Only YOU Boutique is more than a meal—it’s an experience. The hotel houses Celicioso, Madrid’s most complete gluten-free restaurant, where the menu is both health-conscious and satisfying. Meanwhile, YOUNIQUE Arts Club blends contemporary art and elevated cuisine in a space that hosts exhibitions by emerging artists. It’s a place where Madrid’s culture literally hangs on the walls.
The Padrino Cocktail Bar, once a bookshop, serves as the hotel’s stylish speakeasy. With moody lighting and layered flavors, it’s where cocktails become conversations and the night lingers a little longer.
Wellness With a Global Soul
On the first floor lies the Thai Room Wellness, a holistic haven inspired by Southeast Asian traditions. Their expert Thai masseurs combine ancient techniques like Ayurvedic therapy, Chinese acupressure, and Balinese massage for a rejuvenating reset. It’s not just spa service—it’s a full sensory experience that includes silk wraps, Thai harp music, and herbal teas that truly do the trick.
A Place That Redefines the Boutique Experience
Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid is a triumph in storytelling. It’s a hotel that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and yet somehow achieves excellence in every detail—from design to service to the very spirit of the place. It’s one of those rare finds that offers both escape and immersion.
In a city brimming with richness, Only YOU stands apart not by being the grandest—but by being the most thoughtfully unexpected. For travelers who crave elegance with a wink, comfort with a twist, and discovery around every corner, this is the place to be.

PALACIO DE LOS DUQUES, A GRAN MELIÁ HOTEL
A Regal Stay in the Heart of Historic Madrid
By Caroline Dalal
Blending aristocratic grandeur, immersive art, and exclusive RedLevel perks, this 19thcentury palace offers a luxury stay where Velázquez meets modern indulgence.

Madrid’s Royal Canvas Comes to Life
Palacio de los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel is a living gallery of Spanish heritage. My recent stay was an immersion into luxury, history, and hospitality at its highest level. This is, without a doubt, the most regal hotel experience you’ll find in Madrid—a setting where Baroque elegance and contemporary comfort effortlessly coexist, framed by original art and a devotion to service that sets the tone from the moment you arrive.
Housed in a 19th-century Isabelline palace, the property is located in Madrid de los Austrias, between Gran Vía and Plaza de Oriente. The hotel is part of The Leading Hotels of the World and is steeped in centuries of cultural gravitas. Once a convent and later a noble residence, Palacio de los Duques now channels its storied past into a stay that is as theatrical as it is tranquil.

Velázquez as Muse, Madrid as Backdrop
The property draws direct inspiration from the works of Diego Velázquez, the iconic Sevilleborn painter whose masterpieces are subtly integrated throughout the hotel. This homage to Spanish art history doesn’t feel like a museum—it feels alive. Rich colors, sweeping brushstroke motifs, and curated artworks guide you from one space to the next, creating a narrative that threads classic refinement through a modern, high-design lens.
Photographer:
Rodrigo Rodrich
One of my favorite areas was the area that pays tribute to the nearby Teatro Real. Frequented by visiting performers, this section is adorned with costumes, fans, and portraits that connect Madrid’s operatic traditions with the hotel’s theatrical sensibility.

Rooftop Royalty: A 360° View of Madrid
For a truly elevated perspective—both figuratively and literally—the rooftop terrace is where Palacio de los Duques takes center stage. The panoramic views here are astonishing: the Royal Palace, the red-tiled roofs of Madrid de los Austrias, and the entire skyline unfold before you. There’s a seasonal pool, whirlpool hot tub, cocktail bar, and ample lounge seating for those golden hour snapshots or just a quiet moment above the buzz of the city.
This isn’t your average rooftop; it’s an experience that captures the essence of “a life well lived,” complete with a breeze and a bubbly pour.
RedLevel: Your Passport to Personal Luxury
What truly transformed my stay was the RedLevel experience, a premium tier of service that elevates your visit to something genuinely exceptional. It’s more than just access—it’s a mindset. You receive a private check-in, personalized concierge service, late check-out, and entrance to the RedLevel Lounge, which offers its own dedicated breakfast buffet, open bar, and a continuous rotation of tapas, snacks, and sweet treats.
I indulged in midday offerings that included artisanal soups, house-made dips, mixed nuts, and curated bites that wouldn’t be out of place in a five-star tasting menu. The lounge feels like a secret salon—a place for repose, refreshment, or even catching up on emails surrounded by plush velvet and old-world glamour.
A Suite Stay That Redefines Spacious
My room—the Junior Suite RedLevel —was an experience in itself. Extremely spacious, the suite included a plush king-size bed, walk-in closet, a designer bathroom with the best rain shower I’ve ever experienced, and an expansive city view. Everything about the room felt tailored, from the lighting to the serene color palette of soft ochres and velvets.
During my stay, I had the chance to tour a few other rooms, including the show-stopping Presidential Penthouse Suite RedLevel. With its private meeting area, art inspired by the work of Velázquez, and sprawling terrace overlooking the city, it’s quite literally the pinnacle of Madrid’s boutique luxury offerings.

Thai Room Wellness: A World Away Within the City
When I visited the Thai Room Wellness, I was completely transported. Unlike any spa I’ve experienced in Europe, this sanctuary draws deeply from Southeast Asian traditions. Burmese lacquerware, Chinese antiques, and Tibetan elements fill the space with sensory richness. The massages are performed by expert Thai practitioners using authentic techniques and oils—and it really does feel like you’ve stepped into another world. It’s a journey for the body and spirit—no passport required.
Culinary Theater: Tapas and Tradition Meet Artful Presentation
Dining at Palacio de los Duques is a delicious extension of the hotel’s ethos: luxury without pretension, Spanish flavor with global flair. The Corona Royal Gallery & Garden was one of my favorite spots to unwind. During my stay, I sampled everything from tacos and croquetas to risotto, each dish elevated yet approachable. There’s also Jardín de los Duques, which leans into more traditional Castilian fare and feels like a modern tavern with Michelin-grade finesse.

Even the breakfast buffet impressed with classic Spanish options, beautifully presented, and paired with service that was genuinely warm and attentive. Mornings here begin not with haste, but with intention.
Moments Made for Madrid
The hotel is also a hub for exclusive events, with spaces that include a glass-roofed lounge area perfect for private cocktail parties or intimate celebrations. It’s bathed in natural sunlight by day and glows beneath chandeliers by night— a setting equally suited to mingling or musing over a glass of Rioja.
And when it’s time to explore the city, the hotel’s complimentary luxury van service whisks you into the center of Madrid with ease, making sightseeing both seamless and stylish.

Where Tradition Meets Tailored Experience
Palacio de los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel isn’t just one of Madrid’s most luxurious hotels—it’s a living portrait of Spanish culture. Here, every corridor tells a story, every room is a curated scene, and every experience feels personal, meaningful, and deeply rooted in place.
This is where heritage meets hospitality. Where timeless elegance mingles with thoughtful modernity. And where guests—like myself—don’t just stay, but truly live Madrid in the most royal way possible.

TORONTO TO MUSKOKA
The Ultimate Luxury Travel Itinerary in Ontario
By Brandon Travin

Where the City Ends and the Stillness Begins
There are few destinations that bridge cosmopolitan sophistication and off-grid serenity as gracefully as Ontario. In just a few hours, you can glide from the center of Toronto’s bustling Financial District to a private dock in Muskoka, welcomed by loons and lapping water instead of honking horns. The duality is part of the allure—and this journey from Canada’s cultural capital to its most exclusive natural enclave is one that international travelers are increasingly seeking out.
For those who want it all—art and architecture, peace and pine trees—Toronto and Muskoka offer a two-part escape that satisfies both sensibilities.

Urban Sophistication:
48 Hours at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto
Your journey might begin at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, making up 20 floors and the remaining floors consisting of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, a modern landmark tucked into the heart of downtown. From The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge’s panoramic views of Lake Ontario to the curated Canadian artwork lining the walls, the hotel is both a luxury retreat and a love letter to the city itself.
After checking in, cocktails on the terrace at EPOCH Bar & Kitchen offer a preview of Toronto’s globally inspired food scene. Then there’s TOCA, the hotel’s modern Italian restaurant, where I dined on hand-rolled pasta and local burrata before touring the in-house cheese cave—a sensory experience that was as refined as it was playful.

My morning began with breakfast at LANO Café, followed by a 90-minute jet lag reviver treatment at Spa myBlend, widely regarded as one of North America’s premier hotel spas. Set in a serene space with floor-to-ceiling windows and vitality pools, it’s the kind of place where time evaporates—until you’re called back to reality by the promise of more indulgence.
Outside the Ritz, Toronto delivers on every cultural front. You’re within walking distance of Roy Thomson Hall, the Royal Ontario Museum, and CN Tower’s EdgeWalk—a heartpounding hands-free stroll 116 stories above the city. Browse boutiques in Yorkville, wander the galleries of Queen Street West, or sample the multicultural flavors of Kensington Market. Each neighborhood reveals a different angle of this dynamic metropolis.

A Scenic Shift: Entering Muskoka’s Lakeside Luxury
From there, the transformation is swift and stunning. A 30-minute transfer to Billy Bishop Airport, and I was boarding a floatplane bound for Lake Rosseau—a surreal descent that ended right on the dock of a Jayne’s Luxury Rentals estate. I spent my days between two properties: Wildcat Point and Santosha, each a highdesign haven complete with private docks, wraparound decks, and the kind of stillness you didn’t realize your brain was missing.
Though Jayne’s Cottages could easily keep you content with in-home chefs, waterfront yoga, and boat tours, Muskoka itself is worth exploring. One afternoon, we docked in Port Carling, where Turtle Jack’s served fresh Canadian fare on a lively lakeside patio. Later, cocktails at JW Marriott’s Lake Rosseau property gave us front-row seats to the sun melting into the bay.

What to See and Savor in Muskoka
Lake Rosseau is Muskoka’s crown jewel, surrounded by historic estates, boathouses, and scenic trails. Stop by the village of Rosseau on a Saturday morning for its farmers market and local boutiques, or cruise over to Beaumaris, home to the fabled Millionaire’s Row, where century-old mansions line the shores.
For a sense of timeless charm, head to Windermere House, known locally as the “Lady of the Lakes.” A drink on its grand veranda feels like stepping into a sepia-toned postcard. The Rosseau Restaurant here pairs local wines with sweeping lake views—an ideal stop after a hike up Huckleberry Rock, where panoramic views offer a new appreciation of the region’s geological beauty.
Torrance and Bala, two nearby villages, capture Muskoka’s grassroots spirit. Torrance is home to one of Canada’s few Dark-Sky Preserves, a dream for stargazers, while Bala is best visited during its fall Cranberry Festival—though a stop at Don’s Bakery is worth it any time of year.
Even roadside icons tell a story. Webers, a burger joint off Highway 11, has become a ritual stop for locals and cottagers alike. Its vintage train cars and grilled-to-order patties prove that in Muskoka, even fast food can be an experience.
Why the World Is Looking North
Muskoka is no longer just a Canadian secret. International visitors—especially from the U.S., U.K., and Europe—are arriving in record numbers, drawn to what Jayne McCaw of Jayne’s Luxury Rentals calls “quiet luxury.” Here, status isn’t marked by extravagance, but by access: to stillness, to nature, and to an unhurried pace that feels increasingly rare.
For those combining it with Toronto, the journey becomes not just a vacation, but a recalibration. One minute, you’re sipping cocktails with a skyline view; the next, you’re on a dock, watching the mist roll off the lake.
In a world of either/or travel—city or nature, energy or ease—Ontario gives you both. Effortlessly.
VILLA MARQUIS PARIS
Where Aristocratic Legacy Meets ModernDay Elegance
By Caroline Dalal
Perfectly poised in the prestigious Triangle d’Or, Villa Marquis by The Meliá Collection blends history, haute hospitality, and a hint of royalty for a luxury stay that feels like a Parisian daydream.

A Parisian Reverie Begins
My recent trip to Paris will forever hold a place among the most extraordinary travel experiences of my life—and at the heart of that memory is my stay at Villa Marquis. This isn't just a hotel. It's a living, breathing embodiment of the art de vivre, the Parisian way of life that celebrates beauty, ease, and the slow savoring of moments. At Villa Marquis, that celebration is everywhere—from the aristocratic history etched into its walls to the meticulously curated experiences that make you feel like royalty.
Set in the heart of Paris’s opulent 8th Arrondissement, Villa Marquis stands proudly in a neighborhood that exudes aristocratic grace and refined modernity. The hotel is surrounded by a constellation of iconic landmarks—the Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Élysée Palace, and Église de la Madeleine—each echoing the grandeur of France’s historic elite. But beyond these well-trodden sights, the district reveals quieter luxuries: boutique-lined avenues, bourgeois cafés, and tucked-away gems. Here, you’re not only steps away from the Eiffel Tower—you’re immersed in the elegance and cultural depth of one of Paris’s most aristocratic quarters.
A Glimpse Into the Past, Dressed for Today
Housed in a historic building dating back to 1823, Villa Marquis is steeped in stories. Once the residence of French nobility and a favored haunt of artists like Victor Hugo, the property is deeply tied to the Hurault de Vibraye dynasty and Paris's grand cultural and artistic epochs. You can still feel the pulse of that legacy in the hotel's design—now reimagined with sleek, avant-garde style that complements its aristocratic roots.
Every corner of the hotel is a tribute to this duality of past and present. Velvet reds, industrial finishes, and elegant details come together with intention. Designed by architect Álvaro Sans, the 63 rooms and suites marry heritage charm with contemporary sophistication. Staying here is like walking into a portrait that’s been retouched for the modern era—soft, warm lighting and plush textures invite you to settle in, while subtle references to Paris’s creative past remind you of where you are.

A Room with a (Very Parisian) View
I stayed in a Deluxe Extra Room, and it quickly became my sanctuary. Spacious by Parisian standards (a true luxury in itself), the room was anchored in rich red tones that echoed the hotel’s regal history. The bathroom was impressively large, featuring both a rainfall shower and a bath—ideal for soaking in the day’s adventures.
What truly stole my heart, though, was the view of the street below—Parisian life unfolding right outside my window, a front-row seat to local charm. For guests seeking something even more iconic, the hotel also offers rooms with Eiffel Tower views, an option that epitomizes dream-worthy indulgence.
A sweet touch that made my stay feel even more special? The hotel gifted me a set from their exclusive Monsieur Parra pajama capsule—a soft, stylish suit for daydreaming, inspired by Paris and designed with refined cotton comfort. It’s those small, unexpected luxuries that linger long after checkout.
Dos Almas: A Delicious Fusion of France and Spain
Each morning began with breakfast at Dos Almas, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Here, culinary storytelling takes center stage. Led by Head Chef Borja de Diego, the menu is a heartfelt dialogue between French finesse and Spanish flair. Imagine buttery croissants alongside Spanish charcuterie, fresh fruit next to pan con tomate—all in a setting adorned with luxe furnishings and softly glowing light.
I found myself looking forward to breakfast in the Dos Almas buffet as much as any sightseeing adventure. Flaky pastries, fresh juices, creamy yogurts, and of course, cured meats and cheeses created the kind of spread you want to linger over. One evening, we returned for tapas and cocktails on the terrace. With perfect weather as our backdrop, we savored crispy croquetas, tender calamari, and spicy patatas bravas—a casual yet elevated aperitif experience that reminded us luxury is best when it’s also a little fun.

Curated Experiences Worth Traveling For
The heart of Villa Marquis lies not only in its aesthetics, but in its experiential approach to hospitality. The concierge team transformed our Paris itinerary into a memory-making machine. It wasn’t just about offering recommendations—it was about understanding what kind of trip we wanted and designing moments around that.
At their suggestion, I dined at Chez André, a quintessential Parisian brasserie where I fulfilled my longtime dream of trying ratatouille in Paris. But the highlight was a personalized tour organized by the hotel with La Petite Frenchie Tours. For two magical hours, we zipped through Paris in a vintage car, our guide sharing local insights as we stopped to capture iconic photos in front of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. He even took us through hidden streets beloved by locals, giving us a taste of authentic Parisian life beyond the postcards.
For those seeking even more immersive experiences, the hotel offers exclusive guest-only excursions: from wine tastings and perfumemaking workshops, to helicopter tours and a “Live Like a Marquis” day trip to Château de Cheverny. These bespoke offerings are the very fabric of what makes a stay here so rich and rewarding.
The Height of Boutique Hospitality
Villa Marquis isn’t trying to compete with palatial hotels or brand-heavy five-stars. It’s doing something far more refined. It leans into intimacy, honors its heritage, and amplifies the details that truly matter: a great night’s sleep, a location that inspires, design that delights, and service that feels genuinely personal.
As part of The Meliá Collection, a curated group of independent, charm-filled properties, Villa Marquis holds its own as a hotel that feels like a find—a place that’s equally suited for culture lovers, romantic dreamers, and discerning travelers in search of something more soulful.

When Lena Conti—a young, unwed mother—sees immigrant families being forcibly separated on Ellis Island, she vows not to let the officers take her twoyear old daughter. But the inspection process is more rigorous than she imagined, and she is separated from her mother and teenage brother, who are labeled burdens to society, denied entry, and deported back to Germany. Now, alone but determined to give her daughter a better life after years of living in poverty and near starvation, she finds herself facing a future unlike anything she had envisioned.
Silas Wolfe, a widowed family relative, reluctantly brings Lena and her daughter to his weathered cabin in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains to care for his home and children. Worse, she is stunned to learn the children in her care have been taught to hide when the sheriff comes around. As Lena meets their neighbors, she realizes the community is vibrant and tight knit, but also senses growing unease. The State of Virginia is scheming to paint them as ignorant, immoral, and backwards so they can evict them from their land, seize children from parents, and deal with those possessing “inferior genes.”
After a social worker from the Eugenics Office accuses Lena of promiscuity and feeblemindedness, her own worst fears come true. Sent to the Virginia State Colony for the Feebleminded and Epileptics, Lena face impossible choices in hopes of reuniting with her daughter—and protecting the people, and the land, she has grown to love.

BIANCA PETERS HOSTS YOUNG ANGELS GALA TO BENEFIT BLOOD CANCER RESEARCH
By Lillian Langtree
Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation’s Young Professionals Raise Critical Funds at Annual Gala Honoring Kyle Lutnick and Andrea DiNunzio
The Crane Club in Manhattan was aglow on June 23rd as over 200 guests gathered to support Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research at the annual Young Angels Gala, hosted by FOX5 News Anchor Bianca Peters and a successful evening raising over 300k to further the efforts of the charity. The glamorous evening, now in its 7th year, brought together New York’s most driven young philanthropists, creatives, and industry leaders in a spirited celebration of hope, science, and giving.
Sponsored by Cantor Fitzgerald, Tommy Bahama, LVH Global and Double O Fragrance, the gala honored Kyle Lutnick, Executive Vice Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P., and Andrea DiNunzio, General Manager of UltraLuxury Skincare and Fragrance at Coty USA, for their outstanding commitment to the fight against cancer.

“This award holds more significance than I can fully express, most especially because of the people and community I am connected to through this shared purpose,” said Kyle Lutnick, the Executive Vice Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald. “The profound toll that blood cancer takes on patients and their loved ones has been a driving force behind my unwavering support for this organization, dedicated team members, and its vital mission.”
Honoree Andrea DiNunzio echoed that sentiment, saying, “I accept this award in memory of loved ones lost, in solidarity with those still fighting, and with deep gratitude for the researchers who refuse to give up. Together, we are changing the future of cancer—one breakthrough at a time.”
Proceeds from the evening support the Foundation’s cutting-edge music therapy programs and cancer research initiatives. Guests enjoyed

oysters from East Hampton Oyster Shucker, cocktails and wine from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, The Macallan, LALO Tequila, and Wolffer Estates, along with live illustrations by Deanna First, and beats by DJ Chloe Jane.
Founder Denise Rich reminded attendees of the evening’s deeper purpose: “New treatments, new drugs and cures are going to come from research. By funding the very best and brightest young scientists, we are giving patients the best hope for a cure. If my daughter Gabrielle were diagnosed today, with the progress made in the past two decades, I believe she would have survived.”
This year’s gala also featured a silent and art auction launched online earlier this month, with standout items like a luxury trip to Impression Isla Mujeres, custom Heller Furniture chairs painted by Jason Naylor and Ross Pino, and exclusive gifts from Jimmy Choo,

L’AGENCE, and Round Hill Hotel Jamaica. Link to live auction: charitybuzz.com/gabrielles and onecau.se/_9ts9w1
The event was led by a passionate group of young professionals. Founding Chairs included Ayaan Ahmed, Becca Morris, Hugh Barton, Louie Torrellas, and Lydia Maltseva, with an expanded committee of more than 30 co-chairs and host committee members championing the cause.
“Our young professionals are the hope for the future,” said Rich. “Their passion ensures that Gabrielle’s legacy lives on through every dollar raised, every grant awarded, and every life saved.”

PAMELA MORGAN’S GIRL TALK CABARET EARNS STANDING OVATIONS AT THE LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE
By Lillian Langtree
With sold-out performances and star-studded support, the lifestyle maven dazzles Midtown with her sparkling one-woman show on womanhood, wit, and Broadway classics.
June 18th, 2025 – Midtown Manhattan saw two nights of showbiz shimmer as Pamela Morgan brought her latest one-woman cabaret, Girl Talk, to the Laurie Beechman Theatre—and left the room roaring, swaying, and eventually rising in applause. The show, which opened to a soldout crowd, combined Morgan’s signature storytelling with sultry vocals, sharp comedic timing, and a rotating soundtrack of Broadway and pop hits—all filtered through a decidedly modern, female lens.
Directed by cabaret veteran Mark Nadler, with musical direction by Yasuhiko Fukuoka and choreography by Brent McBeth, Girl Talk was as tight as it was intimate. Morgan, known for her multidimensional career as a lifestyle and entertaining expert, returned to her theatrical roots with a performance that was both confessional and polished.
A Spotlight on the Modern Woman
At its core, Girl Talk is about connection—between women, with the audience, and with one’s own story. With each number, Morgan layered in personal anecdotes that offered a glimpse behind her public persona. Equal parts soulful and satirical, the performance moved with ease between torch songs and laugh-out-loud asides. What emerged was more than a cabaret; it was a portrait of a woman who has lived, loved, entertained, and now, shared.

Pamela’s roots in musical theater—and her Texan flair for showmanship—shone throughout the night. Before founding her lifestyle brand and production company, Flirting with Flavors, Morgan trained in dance and musical performance, starring in touring shows and crafting miniBroadway revues. That blend of theatrical experience and lifestyle polish translated effortlessly to the stage.
Glamour Meets Gravitas
The room itself reflected the occasion. The Laurie Beechman Theatre, a cozy but iconic venue known for its cabaret legacy, played host to a glittering crowd. Attendees included Nicole Miller, Malan Breton, Ramona Singer, Jean Shafiroff, Leesa Rowland, Maribel Lieberman, Barry Wine, Vanessa Noel, Donna Rubin, and Fern Mallis—all there to support Morgan, whose influence spans fashion, culinary arts, and performance.
The sold-out debut of Girl Talk follows the success of Morgan’s previous show, A Singular Sensation, also staged at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. This latest performance builds on her growing cabaret legacy while offering a distinctly personal narrative.
Beyond the Spotlight
Outside the theater, Pamela Morgan continues to expand her creative portfolio through Pamela Morgan Lifestyle, a multimedia brand encompassing culinary content, travel inspiration, and event production. Her blog Flirting with Flavors, YouTube channel (which has surpassed 350,000 views), and robust social media presence reflect her deep-rooted belief in the emotional power of entertaining—and now, performing.
With over two decades of experience planning luxury events for nonprofits and private clients in both New York City and the Hamptons, Morgan has cultivated a following that trusts her taste. Girl Talk offered something even more intimate: her voice, her perspective, and her unwavering charisma.
With humor, glamour, and unfiltered charm, Pamela Morgan’s Girl Talk reminded audiences why cabaret still matters—and why her name continues to resonate far beyond the stage. For those lucky enough to attend, it wasn’t just another night out in Manhattan. It was a moment shared, a story sung, and an ovation earned.

JEAN SHAFIROFF HOSTS PHILANTHROPIC RECEPTION IN MANHATTAN FOR EVELYN ALEXANDER WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
By Lillian Langtree
In anticipation of the milestone Get Wild! Gala in Southampton, Jean Shafiroff welcomes animal advocates and supporters to a cocktail soirée highlighting wildlife conservation efforts on Long Island.
A Summer Celebration with Purpose
On a recent evening in Manhattan, philanthropist, author, and television host Jean Shafiroff opened her home to a distinguished group of guests for a cause close to her heart: wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. The reception honored the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons and marked the official start of the nonprofit’s summer campaign leading up to its 25th Annual Get Wild! Gala, set for Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Southampton Arts Center.
The gathering brought together a sophisticated mix of conservation-minded guests, including public officials, fashion designers, and cultural figures, all united in their support for the Rescue Center’s vital work. In a warm and elegant atmosphere—complete with live piano music, passed hors d’oeuvres, and thoughtful conversation—guests had the opportunity to learn about the center’s mission and the profound impact it continues to make on Eastern Long Island’s ecosystem.
A Tribute to Advocacy and Action
The evening’s hosts, Jean Shafiroff and Kathleen Mulcahy, CEO of the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, were formally recognized with citations from New York State Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright. The honor underscored their shared dedication to animal welfare and public education, as well as their leadership in preserving the region’s rich biodiversity.
“Our work with wildlife is vitally important to the preservation of our ecosystem,” Shafiroff shared with guests. “It’s a joy to support an organization that embodies compassion, science, and long-term stewardship.” She added that she hoped many attendees would join her in Southampton for Get Wild! to further support the Rescue Center’s mission.
Mulcahy echoed those sentiments, thanking Shafiroff for her continued generosity: “With Jean’s support, we’ve been able to introduce new audiences to our work. Our goal is not

only to rescue but to return—restoring balance in a world where wildlife is increasingly threatened.”
Notable Guests and Philanthropic Legacy
Among the evening’s attendees were a range of recognizable names and civic contributors, including Missy Hargraves, Sylvia Hemmingway, Ron Dyce, Malan Breton, Victor dE Souza, Maribel Lieberman, and many others. Their presence reflected the cross-section of interests—fashion, media, public service—that continue to coalesce around the Rescue Center’s cause.
Jean Shafiroff’s deep philanthropic footprint was felt throughout the evening. A longtime advocate for both human and animal rights, she currently serves on the boards of organizations such as the New York Women’s Founda-

tion, Southampton Hospital Foundation, and Global Strays. Her work spans causes as varied as healthcare equity, women’s empowerment, and heritage preservation. Through her book Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give, and her eponymous television show, she remains committed to demystifying the giving process and encouraging others to get involved at any scale.
The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center: A Mission Rooted in Care
Located on the eastern end of Long Island, the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center is the region’s only full-service wildlife hospital. Situated on public parkland with proximity to diverse natural habitats—from pine barrens to freshwater wetlands—it provides essential care to wild animals impacted by human development. Each year, the Center handles more than
25,000 calls and treats hundreds of injured animals, with the goal of returning them to their natural environments.
The nonprofit is supported almost entirely through private donations and offers a robust schedule of educational programs for students of all ages. Its 25th Get Wild! Gala this August will serve as both a fundraiser and a celebration of the center’s enduring legacy.
As New York’s philanthropic calendar moves into high summer, Jean Shafiroff’s reception serves as a reminder that luxury and purpose need not be separate. When paired with genuine intention and collective generosity, an evening of cocktails can offer far more than just good company—it can spark a season of real impact.

RESCUES & ROSÉ: ARF HAMPTONS’ CHIC NEW SUMMER EVENT BLENDS SIPS, SOCIALIZING, AND SECOND CHANCES
By Lillian Langtree
Hosted by the ARF Young Professionals Committee, this East Hampton soirée paired Hamptons rosé with rescue dogs for a causedriven evening of connection and compassion.
June 18th, 2025 – The Hamptons social calendar just welcomed a refreshing new addition—and this time, the guest list included adoptable dogs. On a breezy evening in East Hampton, ARF Hamptons (Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc.) introduced Rescues & Rosé, a stylish yet heartwarming summer event that brought together rosé lovers, animal advocates, and the East End’s philanthropic set for a cause that hits close to home.
Held at ARF’s East Hampton campus and hosted by the nonprofit’s Young Professionals Committee, the event served up a seasonal blend of light-hearted luxury and meaningful impact, offering guests the chance to enjoy rosé-fueled revelry while mingling with some of ARF’s most charming adoptable pets.
A Rosé Party with Purpose
While Hamptons summers are no stranger to rosé-fueled soirées, Rescues & Rosé reimagined the genre by infusing it with purpose—and a few tail wags. Attendees were treated to an open bar featuring rosé from Wölffer Estate Vineyard, local wines by Channing Daughters, craft beer from Kidd Squid Brewing Co., and a curated lineup of specialty cocktails. Elevated hors d’oeuvres by Sen and a gourmet raw bar offered a culinary complement to the drinks, creating a casual yet elevated atmosphere fit for a July fête.

Meanwhile, the true headliners—ARF’s adoptable cats and dogs—circulated through the crowd, turning the cocktail hour into a heartstringpulling meet-and-greet. Guests were invited to pet, pose with, and in some cases, even begin the adoption process for the animals on-site, turning the event into more than a fundraiser—it became a tangible pathway to finding homes.
A Community-Driven Affair
The event was made possible by the ARF Hamptons Young Professionals Committee, a dynamic group dedicated to championing the next generation of rescue advocates. Committee members for the 2025 event included Lindsay Berman, Hana Betts, Skylar Borucke, Meghan Bozek, Kimberly Dautenhahn, Amelia Kaneff, Alana McCarthy Killian, Sklyer Moran, Alyssa Moudis, Elizabeth Mellgard Nelson, Daniel Spelman, and Emily Washkowitz Tarkan.
Their thoughtful curation of Rescues & Rosé proved that fundraising can be both lighthearted and effective—especially when done through the lens of shared values, great drinks, and community spirit.
The guest list reflected that same intersection of style and substance, with attendees including Kim Nichols, Katherine Rayner, Peter Cook and Alba Jancou, Barbara and Emily Washkowitz, Dr. Nicole Leibman, and Frank Morgan and Brent Feigenbaum, among others.
Supporting ARF’s Lifesaving Mission
Proceeds from Rescues & Rosé support ARF’s mission, which since 1974 has focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats and dogs across Long Island and beyond. In addition to adoption services, the organization operates a pet food pantry, offers free spay/neuter clinics for feral cats, and provides year-round dog training and socialization programs.

By Lillian Langtree
With Oprah Winfrey as special guest, the star-studded Pier Sixty event honors Erroll McDonald, Cynthia McFadden, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Bob Woodward in a moving tribute to lifelong learning
A Night of Purpose on the New York Waterfront
On June 10, 2025, Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers welcomed an illustrious crowd for Literacy Partners’ annual Evening of Readings & Gala Dinner. Framed by waterfront views and literary prestige, the evening celebrated the transformative power of education—and raised an impressive $1,180,000 to support adult literacy programs nationwide.
The gala gathered New York’s cultural and civic leaders to spotlight a mission rooted in empowerment. Proceeds support Literacy Partners’ programs across 30 states and Puerto Rico, with a focus on high-need areas including New York City, San Diego, Philadelphia, and Nevada.
Honoring Voices That Shape Culture and Thought
This year’s honorees embodied the spirit of literacy as a force for justice, equity, and access.
Erroll McDonald, Executive Editor and Vice President at Alfred A. Knopf, has spent decades championing groundbreaking authors and diversifying the literary canon.
Cynthia McFadden, acclaimed journalist and correspondent, was recognized for fearless reporting and elevating stories that often go untold.
Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist and science educator, has brought scientific literacy into the mainstream with clarity and charisma.

Each honoree was introduced with poignant tributes and heartfelt student testimonials that underscored the real-life impact of Literacy Partners’ work.
Oprah Winfrey’s Powerful Appearance
In a surprise moment, Oprah Winfrey took the stage as a special guest and presenter, lending her voice to the cause. Her message was clear:

literacy is not just a skill—it is a human right and a pathway to opportunity. Winfrey’s participation deepened the emotional resonance of the night and reinforced the evening’s central message.
The gala also paid homage to the late novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford, whose life and literary contributions were celebrated with warmth and reverence.
A Gathering of Influential Supporters
The guest list reflected the cultural reach of Literacy Partners. Attendees included Ronan Farrow, Lesley Stahl, Carl Bernstein, Jean Shafiroff, Courtney E.K. Lewis, Jonathan Karp (CEO, Simon & Schuster), Jon Yaged (CEO, Macmillan), Joni Evans, and Elizabeth T. Peabody, among others. Their presence marked a collective investment in literacy as a foundation for generational change.
Advancing Literacy, Two Generations at a Time
Since its founding in 1973, Literacy Partners has evolved from a local tutoring initiative into a national force for educational equity. Using a two-generation model, the organization sup-
ports adults—especially parents and caregivers—while building foundational literacy for the children in their care.
Through a combination of context-based learning, creative digital tools, and strategic partnerships, Literacy Partners is closing the literacy gap in underserved communities. The organization now reaches families in 30 states, tailoring its programs to the cultural and economic realities of each region.
“Our honorees exemplify the values at the heart of our mission—resilience, courage, and a belief in the power of education to unlock opportunity,” said Asaf Bar-Tura, CEO of Literacy Partners.
Turning the Page on Possibility
As guests departed Pier Sixty, the air was filled with more than admiration—it carried momentum. With over $1 million raised and a renewed spotlight on the value of literacy, Literacy Partners is poised to reach more learners, support more families, and rewrite the story of access in America.

PHILANTHROPY IN FULL BLOOM: PATRICIA AND ROGER SILVERSTEIN HOST KICKOFF BRUNCH FOR 2025 HAMPTONS GARDEN GALA
By Lillian Langtree
In support of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, the Silversteins open their Water Mill estate to launch a summer of purpose-driven elegance in the Hamptons
A Summer Season Rooted in Purpose
On a sunlit afternoon in Water Mill, Patricia and Roger Silverstein welcomed guests into their Hamptons home for an intimate kickoff brunch in honor of the 5th Annual Hamptons Garden Gala, benefitting the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Foundation. As longtime philanthropists and Co-Chairs of the event, the Silversteins gathered close friends and supporters to mark the official start of the gala season—infusing the social calendar with mission-driven momentum.
Held on the grounds of their elegant estate, the brunch was more than a prelude to August’s marquee event; it was a reaffirmation of commitment to a cause that remains urgent, personal, and deeply impactful.
Familiar Faces and Shared Focus
Among the afternoon’s guests were Jean Shafiroff, Noreen Donovan, Peter Thomas Roth, Brian and Carrie Packin, James Byrnes, Rebecca Seawright, and others from the philanthropic and civic spheres. Together, they toasted the work of the Silverstein Dream Foundation and its partnership with the DRI Foundation,
whose singular mission—to fund research that will cure diabetes—remains the beating heart of the gala.
The brunch set the tone for what’s to come: an event season grounded not just in celebration, but in community and progress.
Looking Ahead: The 5th Annual Hamptons Garden Gala
Scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Hamptons Garden Gala will once again be held at the Silverstein residence in Water Mill. Designed as a sophisticated blend of garden-party charm and gala polish, the evening will include:
• A lavish cocktail reception
• An elegant seated dinner
• Silent and live auctions
• Live entertainment and dancing
Opportunities to directly support groundbreaking research and innovation in diabetes care
The evening reflects the unique ethos of the gala: part Hamptons soiree, part philanthropic accelerator—where summer style and serious impact go hand in hand.

The Work Behind the Celebration
At the center of it all is the Silverstein Dream Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to accelerating solutions for diabetes and its related complications. Its work spans academic research support, preventive health programs, and earlystage investments in transformative technologies—a strategic model designed to address both the present and future needs of those living with chronic disease.
The Foundation's ongoing collaboration with the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation amplifies these efforts. Based in Florida, with a regional office in New York, the DRI Foundation is globally recognized for its singular focus: to fund the Diabetes Research Institute until a cure is found. Its urgency is unmistakable—and its impact, far-reaching.
As anticipation builds for August’s gala, the kickoff brunch served as both a celebration and a call to action. In the hands of the Silversteins and their extended community, the Hamptons summer once again proves to be more than a backdrop—it becomes a platform for meaningful change.

BRUSHSTROKES IN THE HAMPTONS: GERARD BYRNE’S LIVE ART PERFORMANCE CLOSES OUT FINE ART FAIR WITH IRISH FLAIR
By Lillian Langtree
From Manhattan Skylines to East End Shores, Ireland’s Leading Modern Impressionist Makes a Dynamic U.S. Debut at the 2025 Hamptons Fine Art Fair
An Irish Master Paints a Moment Stateside
Under the high summer sun of Southampton, Irish painter Gerard Byrne closed out the 2025 Hamptons Fine Art Fair with a performance as captivating as it was painterly. On Sunday, July 13, visitors to Booth #418 didn’t just view Byrne’s canvases—they witnessed one unfold in real time. For three hours, the artist transformed a once-museum-displayed vintage car—already custom-painted in Jackson Pollock-inspired strokes by artist Mark Grimaldi—into a canvas of his own, layering new meaning atop old expression.
It was a rare moment where process, performance, and painting converged. And it worked. Collectors and curators gathered shoulder to shoulder, drawn in by the rhythm of his brush and the clarity of his vision.
A Transatlantic Body of Work
Byrne’s participation in this year’s Hamptons Fine Art Fair marked his first major U.S. art fair appearance, and the response was more than enthusiastic. His solo booth featured over a dozen new oil paintings, many completed during his 2024 New York City residency. The works explored the geometry, atmosphere, and sheer emotional density of Manhattan— from moody rain-washed crosswalks to luminous skyline edges at dusk. Described by fairgoers as “Monet with a metropolitan pulse” and “a Hopper for the post-digital age,” Byrne’s canvases offered a rare combination of immediacy and depth, with expressive brushwork and dramatic chiaroscuro defining his signature style. No image felt still. Each piece pulsed with moment and memory.

Fashion, Furniture, and the Gallery at Large
Byrne’s booth wasn’t just about the canvas. This year, his presence extended into fashion and design through notable collaborations. Menswear designer Todd Snyder appointed Byrne as their official brand ambassador for HFAF 2025, tying visual art and style into one cohesive narrative. Meanwhile, Irish design house Orior Furniture outfitted the space with hand-crafted furnishings that matched the gallery’s aesthetic and ethos— proof that the language of design is fluent across disciplines.
Together, these partnerships framed Byrne’s presence as more than a booth—it was a fully realized environment.
A Studio Built on Practice and Partnership
Back in Dublin, Gerard and Agata Byrne have cultivated a space as thoughtful and enduring as the artist’s paintings themselves. Founded in 2017, the Gerard Byrne Studio serves as a living and working gallery, located in the heart of Ranelagh village. It’s part exhibition space, part creative sanctuary—where curated shows draw global collectors and visitors step directly into the artist’s practice.
Byrne’s work is held in numerous public and private collections, including those of the Irish Government, Irish Embassies, and the Citadelle Art Museum in Texas—a testament to the global resonance of his distinctly Irish perspective.
The Fair: Where Art and Summer Collide
Now in its 19th year, the Hamptons Fine Art Fair has become the definitive summer gathering for serious collectors and galleries alike. With over 150 exhibitors in 2025, the fair’s draw lies not only in its blue-chip curation but in its ability to balance global names with fresh, emerging perspectives.
Gerard Byrne’s live demonstration was more than a closing act. It was a statement of presence—one that bridged old world technique with contemporary relevance, and reaffirmed the artist’s place not only in Ireland’s modern canon but increasingly, on the world stage.

KOBI HALPERIN
UNVEILS SUMMER 2025 COLLECTION AT THE HUB IN BRIDGEHAMPTON WITH BENEFIT SUPPORTING CANCER RESEARCH
By Lillian Langtree
An elegant Hamptons evening blended fashion and philanthropy as Kobi Halperin partnered with the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation to debut his latest designs and raise critical research funding.
A Runway with a Cause
Fashion took on deeper meaning in Bridgehampton this summer as celebrated designer Kobi Halperin launched his Summer 2025 collection at The Hub’s newly opened location with a philanthropic focus. The exclusive kickoff event served not only as a preview of Halperin’s latest work but also as a powerful fundraiser for the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF), underscoring the designer’s ongoing commitment to pairing style with impact.
Set against the polished backdrop of The Hub—Bridgehampton’s newest retail and lifestyle destination—the evening offered an elegant fusion of wine, live music, and curated fashion moments. Guests browsed Halperin’s collection while engaging with leaders in both the fashion and nonprofit worlds, creating a tone that was equal parts celebratory and purpose-driven.

Style and Science Aligned
A portion of all weekend sales—15%—was donated directly to the SWCRF and, thanks to a matching commitment from The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research, effectively doubled to a 30% philanthropic impact. Kobi Halperin, a longtime supporter of the foundation, used the event to reinforce its mission of advancing cancer research through minimally toxic therapies and innovative collaboration.
Dr. Samuel Waxman, founder of the SWCRF, attended the event alongside his wife, Marion Waxman. Their presence underscored the evening’s focus on strengthening the bridge between fashion and science, and the importance of continued donor engagement in funding life-changing research.
Who Was There
The event drew a refined mix of designers, philanthropists, healthcare advocates, and public figures. Attendees included Jean Shafiroff, Marion Waxman, Chris Arlotta, Kathy Prounis, Leesa Rowland, Mia Rowe, State Assemblymember Rebecca Seawright, nutrition entrepreneur Tanya Zuckerbrot, model Zarina Yeva, and Fashion Group International’s Maryanne Grisz. Their presence reflected the increasing convergence between the fashion industry and philanthropic advocacy—a synergy that continues to gain traction, especially within the Hamptons’ high-season social calendar.
Fashion in the Service of Progress
The Summer 2025 collection itself exemplified the DNA of the Kobi Halperin brand: effortless elegance with global inspiration and a modern sensibility. Known for his embroidered blouses, flowing silhouettes, and rich textiles, Halperin designs for women who lead—whether in their professional lives or their communities.
But what stood out more than the clothing was the context: a designer using his platform not only to dress women, but to empower them to make meaningful contributions to society.
A Legacy of Research, A Future of Hope
Since its founding in 1976, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation has awarded more than $120 million to support scientists around the world. Its focus on collaborative, cross-institutional research has positioned it as a leader in understanding the links between cancer and aging, and in developing less toxic, more precise treatments.
The event at The Hub was a testament to how philanthropy, fashion, and community can intersect to move important conversations—and research—forward.
