Take a moment to ensure your desk is clear other than your test booklet (pulled up on your screen is fine), your answer sheet, a pencil, your timing device, and your calculator.

Write out the following outline on a spare piece of paper:
Use the guides on the right side of the page to fill in the time limits for each section. Please only fill in extended time if you have already been approved for it through the ACT.
Choose a timer:
If you are going to use your cell phone as a timer, place the device into airplane mode before opening the timer app. Ensure the notification sound is on to notify you of the end time.
If you have an external timer, ensure the sound is on to notify you of the end time
ACT Practice Exam timing
section 1 - English minutes

10 minute break
section 3 - Reading minutes

Set your timer for the time limit of section 1, write down the start time of the section – turn your test booklet to the start of section 1, read the directions, and begin!
At the end time of Section 1, go ahead and grab your calculator for Section 2 - Math There is no break between Section 1 and Section 2, so reset your timer for the limit you wrote down, turn your test booklet to the start of Section 1, read the directions and begin
At the end time of Section 2 - Math, you may begin your 10 minute break Be sure to get up out of your seat, use the bathroom, have a snack, and hydrate Do NOT open browser tabs in your computer or access apps other than your timer on your phone
At the end of your break, reset your timer for the limit you wrote down for Section 3Reading, turn your test booklet to the start of Section 3, read the directions and begin
At the end time of Section 3, put your pencil down and review this set of instructions:
If you are taking Section 4 - Science: There is no break between Section 3 and Section 4, so reset your timer for the limit you wrote down, turn your test booklet to the start of Section 4, read the directions and begin
If you are not taking Section 4 - Science: Continue on to Step 9 below
Score your exam:
