2026 New Student Information

From the Principal Ms Charlotte Avery

My vision for a St Cuthbert’s education is to enable every girl to succeed and thrive – through developing her individual strengths, expanding her thinking, and building her inner confidence.

Girls are at the centre of everything we do, and our dedicated teachers ignite our students’ curiosity, creativity and passion for learning.

At St Cuthbert’s your daughter will have every opportunity to discover her unique strengths and what she loves doing. Whether she loves art, music, sport, science, dancing, our girls are individuals, and we give each girl the support she needs to grow into a well-rounded young woman.

Together with you, we will prepare her for the world, socially, academically, physically and emotionally.

From the Head of Admissions

Mrs Stacey Paterson

I am delighted to be part of the St Cuthbert’s community, having joined as Head of Admissions in September last year. Over the past several months, it has been an absolute pleasure to welcome new families and help guide them through the admissions process.

We hope this booklet gives you a helpful introduction to St Cuthbert’s and supports you as you begin your journey with us. You will learn more about life at the school during your Orientation Day, but in the meantime, please visit our website to stay informed. The Admissions and Scholarships Office is always happy to assist with any questions you may have, feel free to email us at admissions@stcuthberts.school.nz or call on +64 27 700 2464.

Mobile Phones and Smartwatches

Keep phones away during the day - We match the government’s “away for the day” policy (8.15am until after the last bell) and require phones to be turned off.

Year 0-6: Permission, due to a necessary reason, must be gained from Head of School if your daughter brings a phone to school and any phones required will be handed in to her classroom teacher. Years 7-13: Phones turned off and kept in bags.

For Smartwatches

Students in Years 0-6 may not bring a smartwatch to the College. They are permitted to wear a standard watch. Students in Years 7-10 must keep any smartwatch in their bag, from 8.15am until after the last bell

Students in Years 11-13 are allowed to wear smartwatches. Our emphasis on phones being turned off in bags, will limit the number of notifications they receive. Smartwatches must not be cellular capable models.

Medical Exemptions

Students who have a medical requirement for a smartwatch or phone will need to apply through the nurses to validate the need and ensure that College is aware of and can support the condition.

Parents and Friends’ Association

The Parents and Friends’ Association supports St Cuthbert’s in a variety of ways. It has two primary aims:

• To welcome families and friends to the school community through a variety of social events.

• To harness the goodwill of parents and provide financial and practical support to the school from fundraising and social events.
