NOTES ON THE CONCERT

Sound Levels

The music at this concert varies in mood and dynamics. In today’s concert, there are some sections with sudden loud sounds and sound effects.

If the child is sensitive to loud noises, especially if your seats are near the front of the Concert Hall, we recommend that you bring noise-reducing headphones for them

Content

Halloween Spooktacular! involves themed music, some lighting effects, costumes and props that may be spooky, which might be distressing to some children.

Concert Etiquette

If you leave the hall during the performance, you will be allowed to re-enter again.

Audience members may clap after each piece

Eating and drinking are not allowed in the Concert Hall

Non-flash photography is allowed during the concert, but please be mindful not to disrupt the people around you

While concert etiquette is relaxed at our family concerts, audience members should still remain in their seats to keep the aisle clear for others to pass.

FO BE RE THE CONCERT

Today, we are going to the Victoria Concert Hall. This is where we will watch the Singapore Symphony Orchestra perform.

When we reach the Victoria Concert Hall, we will see the Instrument Petting Zoo at the Atrium at Level 1.

Here, we can try out musical instruments and learn about them.

There will be many people and instruments here. If it gets too loud, I can exit the building or go to a quieter area at Level 3.

INSIDE THE C NCERT HALL

We can enter the concert hall 30 minutes before the concert starts, to get ready to watch the concert.

We have a digital ticket that will tell us what our seat number is, and which door to use.

The concert hall has two sections: the ‘Stalls’ at Level 2, and the ‘Circle’ at Level 3.

To get to the ‘Stalls’, we can use the staircase or take the lift to Level 2.

To get to the ‘Circle’, we can take the lift to Level 3.

The nearest toilets are on Levels 2 and 3, near the lifts. We can use the toilet before entering the concert hall, or anytime during the concert.

The nearest nursing room is at Basement 1, accessible via stairs from the Atrium at Level 1.

To get into the concert hall, we have to wait for the usher to scan our ticket.

We can take a programme booklet and an orchestra guide from the table outside the concert hall. These will help us learn more about the concert and instruments we’ll see onstage.

CONCERT HALL

This is what the inside of the concert hall looks like.

If I need a booster seat to see the performance better, there are some available at the entrance.

The ushers will be able to guide us to our seat.

STAGE

There is a stage at the front of the concert hall, that the orchestra will perform on.

We can go to the front to see the musicians warm-up, but we should return to our seats when the concert is about to start.

CALM CORNER

Sometimes, the music may get loud.

If the music gets too loud, I can cover my ears for a while, or go to the Calm Corner outside the concert hall.

When I feel better, I can go back into the concert hall.

ETAF R THE C NCERT

After the concert ends, we will leave the concert hall.

If too many people are leaving at the same time, we can wait in our seats for the crowd to clear first.

The conductor and presenter will come out for a post-concert meet-and-greet at the foyer.

There, we can take pictures with them or ask them any questions.

We can also take part in the craft activities and Instrument Petting Zoo. See you at the concert!
